Next week, I'll be spending some time in Florham Park, New Jersey, for work. It's the typical business trip: hotel, office, dinner, hotel, repeat. But I like to seek out local restaurants. For one, I like to support local owners rather than big chains. For the other reason, I'm vegetarian and would like to find local veg options. I have a few veg apps for my phone but would like to supplement them with personal reviews. So who wants to recommend a good local restaurant?
For veg, you'll probably want to look towards Morristown or Montclair, though they appear to mostly be Thai or Indian places.. VegNJ.com | Vegan and vegetarian eating in New Jersey ETA: Can't recommend anything personally. I got into food after I moved out of that area.
I wish I could help you, Tony. I work in South Orange (7-8 miles from Florham Park), but I always bring my lunch. I can recommend lots of great places down the shore, though. If your schedule allows, though, I'd enjoy getting a chance to meet you.
It's been 7 years since I worked in Florham Park, but I remember Main St in Madison (the next town to the east) had a couple of good, non-chain restaurants, not sure about the vegetarian angle though.
That used to be part of my ol' stomping grounds ... think "saturday night at the skating rink" ... and I'd second the recommendation to head for Madison for somewhat better food options. But it's been years, so I could be all wrong here. . _H*
Did a little GIS and found a Vietnamese restaurant on Ridgedale Avenue in Florham Park. I have no idea if it's any good, though. Viet Ai You might be able to find something on Urban Spoon. I live in Florham Park and find the food at Viet Ai is excellent. BTW, they're closed Mondays. There's a good Indian restaurant in a nearby town. Saffron in East Hanover, NJ. Saffron Indian Restaurant, Morris County, NJ
Tony, I had no idea you made a full transition. I know you didn't ask, but locally Amitabul can't be beat. The meals are all vegan and the sauces are to die for. They use loads of different kinds of veggies, roots (not my favorite), mushrooms, nuts, sprouts, seaweed and seeds and serve this on a backdrop of noodles or rice in amazing sauces. It's on Milwaukee near Devon so it's a bit of a haul for you but I think you'll find it worth it. I'm not crazy about Dark Side of the Moon but the other stuff I've had is awesome. Check out the reviews: Amitabul - Norwood Park - Chicago, IL We've been to all other kinds of veggie restaurants and have no other staple but this one. It's one of a kind. Check it out.
I have a feeling that these may be your New Jersey friends: (for the uninitiated: cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore" :flame
