Hello all, Just purchased a new 2010 Prius through an auto broker who's service include delivery of the vehicle directly to my place of residence. I did not notice that the rear cargo cover was missing until the day after and would like to inquire with you all to determine if the cover is a standard part. Did some research and from the Toyota Prius website, the rear cargo cover is not listed under options or accessories. My friend who purchased his Prius in March came with it along w/ the rear bumper applique (my vehicle is not equipped with this item either but at least it's listed as an accessory/option at Toyota). A rep from TMC contacted me today to get my opinion on the transaction, and I voiced my frustration. He mentioned that he'll pass my message to the dealership so I'm hoping this will result in my favor. Will update post accordingly. Thanks in advance!
The rolled up cover is usually stored in the secondary storage area under under the floor of the cargo area. Take a look there.
congrats ... and the rear bumper applique is definitely an extra option - it is NOT standard .. hope this helps!
Check out the 2010 Prius eBrochure: 2010 Prius eBrochure.pdf Page 5 of the eBrochure says that the "Tonneau cover with clasp for under-floor stowage" is standard equipment on the 2010 Prius II, III, IV & V. As energyandair said, it's probably in the storage compartment underneath the cargo floor. If it's not there, then make sure that Toyota and your dealer give you a tonneau cover -- it costs over $300 new.
Thanks for the reply guys...are you refering to the black cargo tray (large plastic storage tray immediately above the spare tire) that's underneath the cargo floor cover? If so, its not there.
Top rolling cover: standard Cargo mat: optional Large black tray above spare tire: standard Cargo net: optional Clear bumper applique: optional
I believe that on or near page 388 of your Owner's Manual is an illustration showing the tonneau cover stored on top of the black plastic cargo tray. The tonneau cover lies across the full width of the cargo tray right near the rear bumper and hatch opening. So if it's there, you will see it immediately when you lift the lid of the cargo floor. But it sounds like you've already looked there and didn't get the tonneau cover. Whether your purchase was brokered or not, it seems that Toyota and the dealer owe you a brand new tonneau cover.
It's not all that conspicuous when its installed in its "put-away" holders. To remove it, you have to fold the floor forward, open up the separate small cover behind the port wheelwell, lift up the tonneau cover out of its socket on that side, detatch it from the similar socket on the starboard side (where there is no removable cover), and lift the thing out. Like somebody said, it's almost all the way back to the rear of the cargo compartment. I haven't bothered to walk outside to look, but as I recall, it doesn't interfere with lifting out the black tray that covers the spare tire and jack.
Good news...the dealership will deliver the cover to the autobroker today. The frustration I voiced reached the dealership who contacted me yesterday to work things out. Thanks again guys!
It's not like a tonneau cover on an MG-TD, it's more of a horizontal window-blind that unrolls beneath the big back window.
