Thinking about getting these mudflaps for my dad's Prius, but I am a little concerned about the MPG hit. Anyone else confirm the highway milage decrease ibnird is claiming? thanks

I put on mud flaps about a month ago, and think I am getting about 1 - 2 MPG less. The rear mudflaps are larger. Looking underneath the car, there is nothing that they are protecting. I am thinking of removing only the rear mudflaps.

Installed mine on Monday. Did not have to remove the rear tires, or pre-drill. Haven't driven enough yet to notice if there is a significant MPG hit.

So you are saying the new low profile splash guards just bolt on with no pre-drill and leave the rear wheels in place? Thanks

My apologies, I just noticed the post above mine, I did not install the low profile guards. I installed the "regular" Euro guards and did not have to pre-drill or remove the tires.

I have the low profile ones installed and cannot say I noticed any MPG hit. Probably is something minor but I got 65-70mpg driving home each day over the last few weeks with them on and got 57mpg driving at 55-65mph for 230 miles over the weekend. They look great and I was getting tons of junk sticking along the bottom of the doors when driving on some roads under construction around here and that has now stopped.:D

I tried painting my euro mud flaps with Navy Krylon Fusion paint (the darkest blue they make). The cap looked dark enough, but the paint turned out significantly lighter than the car body. They're back off and I'll have to find darker paint.

Also, when I took them off before painting, I discovered that the front passenger side had been scratched along the mudflap's vertical edge. The scratches are deep enough that they can't be rubbed out with polishing compound. I'm going to put some wheel bearing grease on that flap's edge when I reinstall it.

I just installed my Euro Mud Flaps.
I test fitted them and noticed that the rear flaps stick out a bit.
(This may be why some people are seeing MPG decreases)
I decided to drill a new hole in the rear mud flaps to help tuck them in a little closer. The new hole is just over by 1/2" from the
    pre drilled hole.

Installed the low profile mudguards. I used a drill to pilot the holes, but did not have to remove any tires for the install - just needed a long-shafted Phillips #2.

Someone asked for pics. These are not the best, since it has been overcast lately.

I ended up ordering the factory color paint and painted mine to match the cars Barcelona Red. Turned out really well. I'll take pictures and post when we get back from vacation.

Help me better understand the offer. Are the items genuine Toyota parts for the 2010 Prius? All the dealers I have called (3) say that Toyota doesn't have a part number or listing for the item. Thanks...Bart

I just opened my flaps I got months ago. They look like the Euro design, but I may want the low profile ones. The scoop-like bottom for the fronts look like they would be a real drag in the airstream off the tire.

Do the low profile ones have a more aerodynamic style?

Don't they have a slit at the back of the mudguards for air to flow through? they're not completely solid like the previous design. I remember the rear mudguards have a slit but i can't remember if the fronts do.

Hi Tideland! Yes, there is a slit for some air to escape. How well a scoop intake of 2x5 inches opening can vent out in a 3 inch by 3/8 slit without becoming a whistle device escapes me! I imagine they would plug up with debris and mud too.

Are the low profile mud guards less obtrusive into the airflow yet still provide some protection?

I suppose lol. It would create a high pressure in that area... I'll let you know this winter how much crud it holds...

Wouldn't know. i have the full Euro version.

I just got my Euro mud flaps today and will have them on this week, will try and post photo's! I love your wheels, can you tell me specifics on them? I have 2010 V in pearl white and am trying to find wheels locally, I guess no one carries quality wheels in this town. Don't want to order something without at lease seeing quality of the item! Help! Like the Rays Volks super eco racing wheels but only available on line. I don't know enough to just order them on line and know they will work.
