Generic email today - simply stating the next step is a little over 4 weeks away. What do you think it'll be ... a request to pony up a bigger down payment?

    congratulations

If so, that'll separate the men from the boys
    :p

It's the department of redundancy department.

Mine came too, hence the new avatar. I'm not holding my breath in Florida. I am guessing that the initial batch will go to CA and NY.

They are promising before the end of June to tell us how the actual ordering process will work. We might actually learn something.

I'm fairly sure they will keep the dates. They have already kept the following dates ...
    - Leaf announcement day
    - Price announcement
    - Taking deposits
    - Smyrna, Sunderland breaking ground

I agree, they WILL have an announcement before the end of June. Probably very near the end. And I expect there to be some new actual information in that announcement, though that's speculation. It might or might not be USEFUL information.

i assume the june 30th email will be a form to select your preferred dealer along 2nd and 3rd choices maybe. also scheduling the "home visit" for 220 evals...

mundane stuff i am sure. nothing good until probably october or so

It seems to me they said they would explain how the ordering process will work. This could be as useful as how much additional deposit will be required when the firm order is placed in August and whether that deposit will be refundable (i.e. a back-out clause after the chance to take a test drive) or as useless as a repetition of earlier information (i.e. "In August you'll go to a dealer of your choice and negotiate a price.")

As for October, no way: We've been told we can place a firm order in August. Once that's done, the only thing we really need to know is when the car will arrive.

It's possible that in June we will be told how to schedule the electrical inspection.

Not that I'm counting here but ...

There are only 22 3/4 days to go, 'till the end of the month . . . . anybody get anything yet? Anybody? Can you tell how patient I'm being?

My guess is that the email will come VERY near the end of the month. Don't worry about it, though. It's just going to tell you that in August you'll get an email telling you that you can go to your dealer and order a car.

I'll have to double check with my brother but we live in Tri-Cities, WA and he got a letter stating his Leaf was now reserved and they would be sending him dealer contract information in a follow-up letter. And I think he said something about the first "batches" only coming to WA and CA.
I didn't think to find a thread on Prius about the Leaf so I don't have specifics. Wow. I almost hope I am wrong about what he said or I think some of you might be really upset. :)~

I suspect it's going to push us into deciding on a dealer. Once that is done, that dealer will be shepherding us through the installation of the residential recharging station. That will likely take into August to get the whole process set up and in motion.

August will be the cough up more cash month and likely finalize the vehicle order - model and color.

My impression is that Nissan in going to try to coordinate the home recharger installation. That should give us some indication what level of logistical resources they have committed to this.

It may all require quite a commitment of faith as it doesn't seem like we will see any real world driving data before committing or taking possession of the car. While I would like to have actual data on the car, currently we have one car that really does little besides around town driving.

    December should be delivery.
