Um, maybe a carport? I am not a fan of car covers, for one specific reason...the fabric/vinyl lays directly against the paint. *Any* dirt or dust becomes an abrasive, and even with a snug fit there is still enough movement to mar the finish. Additionally they do not protect very well against hail. Hail is a major issue, in Texas. Chuck
Hey Group - I need to park my Prius outdoors in the sun for 3-6 months, in Florida. I think a high quailty good fitting cover is essential. Anybody care advise? Pics? Thannks
I agree with Chuck 'cause we had a bad experience with one type - it was supposed to "breathe" but it just sucked the dust in and the result was a distroyed paint job with the sandpaper effect Gary .
There's a portable "tensile structure" carport that can be put up or down, or even taken with you. But, it's basically a carport...a structure that goes over your car, rather than around it. Basically, it's a portable tent. More importantly, it's not physically touching the paint. I understand that you want to protect the finish...this is why I really don't recommend a car cover that touches the paint. Good luck with your search. If you find something that actually works, and which doesn't damage the paint, then please let us know! I'm always open to new options.
To be fair, you didn't ask for a list of the potential pitfalls of using a car cover. Sorry for going down that road. Instead, here is a link to the PriusChat shop, where they carry a car cover. I've not bought anything from them, but others have, and almost universally rave about the high quality. I presume that the car cover would be equally exceptional. PriusChat Shop : Covercraft Toyota Prius Custom Car Cover [C16569TK] - $189.00 It looks nice, and the price doesn't seem too excessive. Chuck
