I have an 05 Prius base pkg, and lost my original (black emblem) keyless remotes. I bought a new one on Ebay with an(black emblem) uncut key. I got info from Prius chat, on how to program new remotes. I was able to program it to lock and unlock , but can't get it to start the car...Please help!!!!
You don't program the remotes, you program the car to accept the remotes. You need a Toyota tool to do it, or a high end compatible locksmith system. Tom

Open and close driver door 6 times. 3. Remove old fob from slot. Car is in fob programming mode at this point. 4. Insert new fob and leave in the slot for a full minute. Watch the blinking red anti-theft light on the dashboard. When it stops flashing and goes dark, your new fob is all set. 5. Remove the new fob and you're done. No you can't. You can program an SKS car to accept a non SKS fob but the SKS can only be partnered with a virgin fob.
I did the same for my Australian Prius and followed the instructions using the car's FOB slot and I managed to program it to start the car but could not for remote lock unlock. I think there is a compatibility problem between my Australian Prius and the American FOB.
No there isn't, it worked for me. If it doesn't work the first time try again. The sequence is very complex so it is easy to make a mistake like pressing the brake or something. Keep trying, it works.
I am trying to replace a keyless remote for my 2004 Prius I can't find one on eBay that will ship to Australia, and in any case they are always used. I found a dealer that sells new for US$129, but I'm not sure it will work. The US remote has an extra "panic" button that the Australian model does not have. Will this keyless remote work on my car?
Sorry I can't provide the answer, but: If you remove the backup key , hold the release latch & slide the back cover off the fob you can find the part number. As far as I can tell the US ones have a different number to the Aussie & UK ones. Perhaps Patsparks can help as he had success with a US ebay one. I wonder what the part number on that was? Check the CR2032 Battery! Hi all, I just got a used 2007 Prius and bought a NEW SKS key fob for a Toyota dealer. I went through the programming sequence and was unable to get the remote lock/unlock to program. Finally I checked the battery on the fobs and they were BOTH at 3.01V(old and new). I changed the batteries(new = 3.3V) and everything is fine. It's had to believe that you really do need a FRESH set of batteries to link the FOBs to the car.
Not really. I actually used the steps above 4x fob in slot; 6x door open/close to program a USED SKS fob (I checked the FCCID, it matched mine.) But, the remote and SES functionality (proximity operation) don't work, obviously (or not so obviously). Just noticed this is an Aussie thread, so forgive me. --r
