I had downloaded my contacts from Iphone, then I switched to verizon (for coverage) but have been unsuccessful in downloading my contacts form my droid. I erased the contents from my iphone, in case it taxed the memory, but no help. It tries to download, almost does it, then is unable to complete the download process. Any ideas? Mugur,
On your Droid, are you allowing the PBAP? It shows in the Notification Bar on the phone when you first pair the phone with the car. Pull down the Notification Bar and select the PBAP request. Check the "Always Allow" box and then "Yes". You might have to remove the Droid from the car's bluetooth and then pair with the car again. Also, try turning off your phone and restarting it after deleting the phone from the car.
Thanks for the approach. I will have to uninstall a fair number of manually installed numbers to try it. I looked today and couldn't find the PBAP you refer to. On controls i tried to see what that is, but no luck. I will puesue. Thank you for your throughtful reply. All my best, Michael
My Sprint Hero running Android 2.1 needed to have the contact "type" changed (google, phone, contact, exchange, etc.). Try changing the type of a few of them and see if they transfer (try each type).
You just need to remove the Droid from the car's Nav system. That will remove your contacts and allow you to try again. It won't effect your phone. When you pair it with the car, look for the option on the Nav screen to transfer your contacts. When your Droid is paired with the car, that action will cause the phonebook access request. It will show up in the Notification bar of the Droid.
I've never experienced that with the Droid. I have about 100 contacts and they all synced at once. It just takes some fiddling with the phone to get them to sync with the Nav system.
