Hey there! I just got my Prius two days ago. We got our used from a Toyota Dealer, because I had a feeling that buying on from another dealer was a bad idea, it's a 2007 with 40,000 miles on it. I've wanted a Prius for a long, long time. I am from southern Cali and they were becoming common there when I left in 2005 to join the Army. Well a few years, a couple of kids and an honorable discharge, motherhood AKA CH 8 (Not SEC 8!! That’s different! LOL), we needed a second car-car to get me back and forth to school, which I start in July. I was going to get a new Kia Rio, I need really good gas mileage since my school is 40 miles away from me and we have an Optima which is a good car, cheap but good. But I was sneaky and set up a test drive at Toyota dealership for a Prius, used bc we are a single Military income with two kids in childcare since I am full time plus+++. I say plus bc I will go Tues-Sat 9-4. So... it was a matter of convincing my husband, who was trading in his gas-guzzling Chevy Blazer 4x4 which he never drives because we can afford the $200 a week in gas it take to get him on base and back. (One of the manly modified ones with big wheel and a pulley thingy in front and the exhaust on top of the thing... In other words a SUV that gets barely double digits HWY. Army Men ) It was the computer. Put a Military Intell guy in a car with a computer and he is in love. So I got the car I really loved, with the mileage that will help out and now I have to fight to keep it with me!!!
First, thank you for your service to the United States! I don't think we civilians can ever appreciate our veterans enough, both in terms of the amount of time you give to your country and the fact that you will willingly go in harms way to protect us. Now, go enjoy your long overdue reward, your Prius. It's the most fun and entertaining driving experience on the market!

Very nicely put, all the way around. Enjoy your "new" car and have fun learning all about it. BTW, if you are willing to heed some sage advice from this site, fill up with approx 2 pips on the gas gauge. There is a "bladder" that rests atop the fuel in the tank (to reduce emissions). This bladder is flexible, but more flexible in warmer weather than cooler weather. Long and short of it, you never know EXACTLY how much gas you have in the car, other than the amount that you just filled it with at the gas station. Do not assume that you have 11.9 gallons, there are many threads of people running out of gasoline because of this assumption. Otherwise, enjoy!
