I searched and found a PriusChat news article referring to the Earth Day 2009 chat with Toyota's Doug Coleman. It says that USB will become standard after September '09 builds for III, IV, and V w/nav. I picked up a IV w/nav last month, but there is no USB next to the aux jack. According to the sticker, it was built in March '10. When I questioned the dealer, he said it may just be a "North American" thing (I'm out here in Hawaii). Is everyone getting their newer models with a USB port, or is there a correction to the Earth Day chat that I missed? Can it be that Hawaii cars would be excluded from that announcement? Thanks.
I don´t know about Hawaii. But in Europe the USB Jack is an optional Install at the dealership for all models.
I believe all NA cars after a certain date have the USB port. My III was a July 2009 build and it has the USB port.
Got my 2010 a little over 2 weeks ago. It has both the USB and the Aux in the center console. It works quite well although takes fiddling for an iPhone as that is not officially supported - you must make sure iPhone is not plugged in when you power up, once car is running and you plug in the iPhone you are good to go (I am sure same issue in iTouch).
OP, what is the build date of your car? Is the USB listed on the sticker? (I'm not at home so I can't check mine.) Did you get a little paper booklet? If you just bought an early production car then it must have the record for sitting on a lot.
Sorry, my Prius has USB and AUX...i just don't use it so i wrote by memory when i first bought it. Sorry for the misinformation.
Just got my Prius V today. Hooked up my iPod to the USB and synced the Iphone via BT streaming music and making calls. The ipod/usb connection works fine. (ipod nano) My only complaint sofar is voice control
First of all, mahalo everyone for such quick feedback. The build date is 3/2010 as confirmed by the black sticker inside the driver's door frame. I ordered it in January and they originally told me it would be a March build and April delivery. Because (I assume) the USB is part of the Nav package, all it says on the sticker is Navigation Package - Voice-Activated Navigation System w/ Back-Up Monitor. That's it. Not very detailed. Also, no little paper booklet, just the thick Nav instruction booklet. Before posting, I also did a Google search, but all I could find that talked about USB being included was the PriusChat announcement. It looked like other websites were referring to the same PC article. When I looked at the Toyota website, I thought it also mentioned a USB jack. Sooo... I'm still a little confused if mine should have been included or not. If Hawaii doesn't receive NA cars, what are we getting? Thanks again.
I have USB. Funny things happen to my iPod sometimes. It seems to change the setting to repeat one. So after listening to a podcast in the car, I need to change the setting back so I don't keep listenting to the same song over and over. It is nice in that I can be listening to a podcast and stop someplace and turn off the car and it starts right back up where the program left off. But sometimes it doesn't happen. I never thought to use my iPhone on it because I have a seperate charger dock for that on the dash, but I'll have to try that now. The podcast tab on the music menu does not work too well in scrolling through the podcasts.
Try a seach of PriusChat for Hawaii.... It's been several months now, but I remember that there is something different about Toyota's sold in Hawaii. I just don't remember the details....
