Just got this across the Google Newswire. Chestnut Hill School Raffles a Toyota Prius Why have your name languishing on a waiting list to own a Toyota Prius, one of the hottest and environmentally friendly cars around, when you could be the lucky winner of a Prius. For those of you who are anxious to own a Prius now, The Chestnut Hill School is raffling a new, 2003 Prius, complete with a custom paint job. Tickets are $100 each and only 250 tickets are to be sold, making your odds of winning great. Don't delay! Tickets are going fast. All you have to do is contact Jean Sells, director of Development, at 617-566-4394, ext. 655, or e-mail [email protected]. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will help fund scholarship aid at the school. Link to Article Maybe PriusChat members can buy all 250 of them and then we'll have a 100% chance of someone getting one ASAP! Best I can tell is that it's located in Needham, MA. Let us know if you get a raffle ticket!
They say 2003.. And what sort of "custom paint job"? That seems like a very small number of tickets for a 2004 Prius. I'm sure a lot of people here would be willing to just buy all 250 tickets and be done with it. A leftover 2003 seems more plausible.
I just got off the phone with Ms. Sells - very pleasant woman to speak with. The car is in fact a 2003, but it is pretty much brand new. Apparently a family won it in another raffle, already has enough cars, so they donated it to the school so that it would go to a worthy cause. Apparently the custom paint job is some sort of contemporary artwork that was done on it - not sure about options or anything yet, she's supposed to email me with a list of options and more information.
That's a pretty affluent (aka "rich") area, so I wouldn't be surprised if all those $100 tickets sell pretty quickly.
Ok, got more info: It has less than 100 miles on the car. AM/FM Cassette Rear Spoiler PW & PL Cruise DRLs Side Airbags and an interesting paint job [Broken External Image]:http://s87059328.onlinehome.us/images/car_small.jpg You don't have to be present to win, they accept VISA/MC, check, etc, and expect the drawing to be sometime in May. If this was a 2004 I guarantee every ticket would already be bought by PriusChatters.
AAAAAAAHHHHH! Uhhh.... good luck to the school.... (Sounds of running away) :gay: P.S. -- didn't this car appear in the last Austin Powers movie?
OMG. Is that the burning bush someone had speak to them the other day?? Warning - Do NOT park this car in front of a circus tent. It will be rendered invisible...
I was going to buy a ticket until I saw that picture... Whew! I don't think I could deal with my wife driving that thing around (since I already have an 04', it would be for her). What an ugly paint job! Then again, probably an EXTREMELY safe car to drive.
i'm considering it, who cares the color that car is still 18k more valuable then my current car. the question is can i spare the 100.
and if it's ever stolen, recovery should be a snap! one photo to the police; one on eBay with a reward.....
A great car for your kids ... they wouldn't get away with anything. A friend once painted his VW bug in Zebra stripes before giving to his kids.
If posting Prius raffles is not prohibited on this board I'll mention that our school has (will have is more like it) a Prius as a prize option in our Grand Raffle. Tickets are $100 with 1,250 tickets available. Winner chooses either the 2004 Prius plus $10K or a 2004 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Lariat or $35K. I will post the website URL but if this is frowned upon feel free to remove it. http://www.bishopbaraga.com/raffle.html Oh, there are 3 early bird drawings and also 5 $1,000 winners besides the Grand Prize Winner.
Yes, please post some more information - anytime the money is going to a good cause (non-profit org.) I'll allow it. Esp when it helps someone get their Prius faster!
The raffle committee has been promised a 2004 Prius by the time of the 4th of July parade, as we always try to have the prizes visible by then. A specific car was not ordered, but rather it's more of a "we'll see what you have to offer us when something comes in and we'll most likely take it" type thing. So as of now color is unknown as are the options. When we do get a vehicle the features and options will be listed on the website as well as a photo of the vehicle itself.
The drawing date isn't listed on that site.. But it looks like it won't be until the fall? Faster to order one
