The passenger switch is on the other side of the console and the switches have a high/low/off position with an LED indicator. Switch up = high and LED is red; switch down = low and the LED is amber; switch in the center = off.

    Questions?
Do the leather seat covers affect the seat mounted airbags? Any chance they could void the warranty on the airbags, or worse create a liability for a passenger?

Don't want to be negative but these are reasonable issues.

Katzkin installs for Toyota Dealers before delivery. Somehow I doubt they would endorse the airbag being disabled to install better than Factory upholstery on new Toyota's.

Part of Katzkin's marketing is the liability insurance they keep for their products. It is touted as 51 million. Plenty to cover claims - and likely why dealers have no issue installing them...

As a side note, when I totaled my Katzkin equipped 2010, the seat airbags went off fine (along with the other 6)...

Warranty will 99.9% of the time NOT be voided by a Katzkin install (BEST to call and/or go to your local dealership - GET SIGNED PROOF and/or some sort of documentation stating "you are fine!" - if you are super paranoid :)

All kits are made for vehicles WITH airbags, WITHOUT airbags, or some kits will fit either/or. As long as you pick the CORRECT kit - you will be fine. The kit will have a pattern that is properly manufactured should an airbag deploy.

The only thing that installer does when installing a katzkin kit: disconnect a small plug when removing the existing upholstery and reconnect when he is installing the katzkin leather. Katzkin is a tremendous company with an impecable reputation. They would not sell a product (and be so successful) if their item had a risk of possibly killing people! There are certain automotive regulations that they must follow - safety, fire, etc). The materials that any automotive company uses must meet certain regulations - it is therefore a MUST (complete necessity!) that Katzkin would manufacture kits which withhold and follow certain safety regulations.

Anyone know whether Katzkin sells individual pieces? I got a GEN III, package II for my wife with the port installed leather and want to finish it with the door panels/armrests and center console.

Abalosa, I like the look of your katzkin, where did you get them installed? The place I called wanted about 1400 for katzkin plus install.

    thanks

Wow, that's crazy. While I was able to have mine installed for $999 plus tax (including a second color and perforation), the kit can be purchased from Katzkin for $649 (or a hundred or so more for the upgraded leather).

The installer must get some sort of discount for ordering themselves because if I purchased the leather and just had them install, it would have been an extra $100.

$1400 is very high for a Prius installation. I paid $1100 for my dads 3-row truck. if you want to go with shopsar.com (which i highly recommend to all my colleagues, family, etc.) - check out their ebay store first (Chrome Accessories items - Get great deals on Grilles, Chrome items on eBay Stores!) -- they have clearance priced kits here which are 100$ or so discount off their website kits. the availability is limited but if there is a color you like there - run with it.. seriously. ive purchased 2 of their prius kits so far (one for me, one for wife) and several family members have used them along with my cousins auto club (over 50 members from there referred and did katzkin installs). $1400 is a lot.. if you can get it from them for $650 and find a shop that will do an install for... MAX. $500.. that is much more reasonable. a prius should cost $3-400 for an install but even $500 would be reasonable..

I ordered my Katzkin kit today thru Toyota but am a bit worried cause they told me that the kit does not include the center console lid. Can anyone confirm this? Does the kit include leather for the center console lid?

Thank you. I was a bit worried, but after some research and you guys here at PC, I have some peace of mind.

BTW, Toyota is charging me $1300 installed.

I wonder if there is any difference in the foam seating itself for non-leather prius seats vs factory leather seats ? The primary reason for me getting the IV was the leather. I never really paid attention to the other stuff you get with the IV vs the III. What would a II with mats and add-on leather cost and what would I be missing vs the base IV ? The seats are outstanding -- size-comfort etc. Figure your average cost for the katzkin [does it include heat ?
