Just trying to see if anyone has a tried and true pet barrier for the back of the Gen III and/or is there one for the Gen II that will work? I've been looking at an angled pet barrier made by Trec Pet to accomodate for the back seat being somewhat in the way of a true vertical "up and down" from floor to ceiling. It would also have to be modified for length, but a hacksaw would handle that. If anyone has found a solution, chime in! Thanks

That's unfortunate. I think there are other rigid bar models (e.g., Walky Guard, which unfortunately is too tall). But this was one that sounded like it might fit height wise -- on the Gen II Prius there's only about 10 inches between the top of the rear seats and the headliner/roof. There are also models made out of netting.
I've tried a couple of things, without much success. At first, I raised the rear headrests up as far as they'd go, and that kept her back there for a couple of short trips, until she figured out how to squeeze through. Then I attached her leash to her chest harness and tied it to one of the tie-down rings. That worked, but she really wants to be with the humans and howls so much it's painful. Next long trip, she's going to daycare.
Well, after much research and driving around San Antonio to several pet stores that have the name "Pet" in it...(All of which had absolutely nothing even remotely resembling a pet barrier), I wound up walking down the pet isle in Target and lucked upon a collapsible kennel that fits in the back. $27!!! What a find!! I tried it out and he (Neo my black lab) has no issues with it! It's well ventilated, he can turn around, etc... I added a few pictures from my iPhone in case anyone needs a reference. It folds back up to about the size of a frisbee and has it's own vinyl carrying case. No more hair on the headliner, no drool on the seats or my daughters head (That one was kind of amusing... :rockon!! I guess I'll find out for sure when we go somewhere with significant miles involved. Thanks to everyone who responded.
That looks like a nice kennel, but it looks like it kills all your visibility out of the rear window... We were having this same problem, and the only solution we found was to clip a short dual-leash to one of the D-rings, and keep our two little guys back there in their harnesses. Was a lot of trial and error on finding the right "short" leash. Our older dog, who is used to riding in the passenger seat kept jumping over the seat back and hanging himself (in his harness, not by the throat)!
CC, You're correct...it kills visibility but that's the only option right now. The amount of traveling we do on a regular basis is such that I'm willing to live with limited visibility. He just sheds soooo much! If I could have found a pet barrier in time that would fit and not kill my pocketbook, that would have been optimal. Alas, time has run out!

Ive had my dog chew threw plastic trim in my ford edge. Ever since that happened ive been putting a wire crate in the back. A crate is just too big in the prius unless you have a v. Last thing I need is for my dog to chew up the prius. SCH-I605 ? 2
