May 17 2010 we had our prius for one year. We now have well over 27,000 miles, and so far no problems except for the brake recall which I noticed no difference before and after it was done. Gas mileage has been picking up mostly for above 50 degree weather and drier roads, up here in the Northwest it rains 8 months out the year, believe me. Last fillup was over 51 mpg, true. I change the oil every 10,000 miles and only replace with 4 quarts, 0 W 20 synthetic oil, so it is not overfull. seems when I drain the oil it nearly fills up a one gallon plastic container nearly to the top. Tires have been replace at about 11,000 miles from factory equipped Yokohama avid to Michelin Energy Saver Tires, 195X65X15 with 44 psi of nitrogen ( purchased at Costco) in all four tires. I believe this picked up at least 2 mpg's over the Yokohama, maybe more. I should get at least 60,000 miles by looking at the way they are wearing, also very quiet tires in my opinion, very pleased with these Michelin tires. My wife drives this car at least 80% of the time, when she drives she almost alway gets 5-8 less MPG's than I do. Once she surpised me, she really tried to get better mileage and on one trip got an indicated 58 MPG for about 55 MPG True. Yes, she really loves our car. Well, going to Reno on Thursday for our one year weeding aniversary, May 23, and taking the Prius just like we did one year ago when we got married. alfon
well congrats!! i have had mine a year as well and starting to push 10,000 miles. granted i have not enjoyed mine as much as you have yours, but the moments i have had have been just as satisfying.
I would luv to know how to get an average of 50 mpg. Do most of your driving involve flat roads? I'm still at less than 5K miles so I hope to improve my miles next time the car is serviced.
Happy Anniversary!! Remember to post here! http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...rd-generation-prius-annual-fe-statistics.html
Well I would add an engine hour meter that would state the amount of hours the engine is operating. alfon
I like this idea! Suppose you could add it somewhere??$$$ Just did my first oil change at 5K Will do 10k after!! 6 months and I'm really enjoying this car!! I don't miss my GEN II one bit,I'm happy too.
Didn't know you can get married in Reno. You went though low MPG in the winter and now you have the entire year experience. I know your wife loves it. What is your full year opinion of the Prius?
Congrats My Prius has over 25,000 miles and is about 8 months old. 100% trouble free. I feel bad for all the suckers that paid for an extended warranty. I did my first oil change at 1K, then 5K, 10K, 15K, 20K and 25K. I was able to get 305K from my last vehicle with less than $1,000 in repairs or its life. This car should do the same.
Thanks for the brief reviews on the Michelin Energy Savers. 11,000 on the original Yokahomas S133D? Wow, that's low... does a new tire have 10/32nd thread?
That's a great idea--especially useful in a hybrid, wherein it is harder to get a feel for exactly how much engine use there is (compared to a normal--'petroleum challenged'--car). Mileage alone isn't good enough imo, even with a traditional ICE-only mobile. Congrats and Happy Anniversary. ~T
