    Hello,

I have purchased a paid of dvd player head rests from On Fair. I hope to hardwire them for power... this is where you all come in. Where do I start? I have a 2007 Prius. Ideally I am looking for a walk through on how I can access a 12v source.

Second question relates to taking apart the front seat backs. Does anyone know if the backs pull off or if there are screws that need to be removed?

    Thanks all!

You can tap the 12V behind the center console (by removing the cup holder).

As for the seats, it's probably easiest to remove the whole seat (only four bolts and a couple of plugs).

    Hope that helps.

Here's a wiring diagram if you have the JBL stereo system:
2007 Toyota Prius Car Radio Wiring Guide
Could be the same for non-JBL system but I'm not sure.

For my screens and my dvd player, I tapped into the Gray Switched 12v+ Wire under the passenger seat.

As for the seats I'm not sure what you're asking.
What kind of screens did you get? Some actually just replace the headrest itself, others need to have the headrest modded to fit inside and then there are also ones that strap onto the seat/headrest.

    Thank you for the link!

I bought head rest replacements. The wires all run down the poles. Everything I read so far indicates that I should be able to remove the seat backs to be able to fish the wires down and under the front seats to make the connections to power and to join the screens.

Would you mind giving me a couple step by steps on how you tapped the grey wire. Thanks again.

If the car has no JBL then there shouldn't be any grey wire under the passenger seat, I thought.

is that for a 2 connector JBL or 3? I'd have to double check under my seat too - I have 3 connectors.

and on the 3 connector, if I remember correctly - the black/yellow wires were for front speakers and not rear. *you can check my amp install post* KK6PD uploaded a 3 connector pdf.

Don't you have the active head rests in the US models for safety as those headrest replacement ones will make it inoperable...

It is my understanding that my 2007 does not have active head rests. I think that started with genIII.

    sorry, forgot about this thread.
Here is a pic of the connector I used:
    http://media.digikey.com/photos/3M%20Photos/557%20(BOXED).jpg
It's called a splice wire connector

I basically used that on the positive and then grounded the negitive wire to the car.

    Hope this helps.
