Mornin' I've just bought a '56 Plate Prius [T-Spirit], second hand over here in the UK. - I did so on the understanding that being a second-half of 2006 model, it would be equipped with a Reverse parking camera & Intelligent Parking Assist. However, no matter what screen I have up on the display, whenever I shift into 'R' There is simply no reverse camera image shown on screen. I've looked through the manual several times, in an effort to find a possible 'enable switch' on the dash or in the on-screen menu... But can't find anything... Am I missing something here, or have I been duped? Any help appreciated. [New to the forums, so hope this post is in the correct place, thanks in advance for your time.]
If the picture comes thru...look to the left of the license plate, below the green tag on the rear window. You see the small black thing? That is the camera. Does your car have it? http://earthrehab.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/back1.JPG http://earthrehab.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/back1.JPG
from my understanding if you have the intelligent parking assist system then you should have this button installed on the car. it should be somewhere next to the EV switch
That is 100% correct. My T Spirit has this button to activate / deactivate the rear camera on the MFD. It is on the left of the steering wheel next to the EV button - (on a RHD vehicle).
I can't confirm the absence of a camera module above the numberplate. [Simply haven't been to look] But I do know, the button next to the EV Mode button is just a 'placeholder' so to speak. The car definately is a TSpirit [got the Nav, Leather, JBL Audio, Bluetooth], and is a '56 reg. But lacks a camera? I was under the impression that even the Pre-2006 TSpirit models had a camera, but no IPA, so I'm at a complete loss. Could the Dash button have been removed? Q.
i think i will wait this one out for someone more knowledgeable to chime in, heh otherwise i think you been had maybe you have a 2006 t3 with options? this post is based on me looking at pictures of the rear of a tspirt and a t3 2006 and noticing the missing back up camera on the t-3
The IPA (and reversing camera) were initially a £400 option on 2006 T-Spirits. They became standard on T-Spirits in December 2006 (boosting the price accordingly).
Here is a guide made my me, about how to install yourself the IPA option: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...elligent-parking-assist-ipa-2.html#post888384 Probably you'll pay on those components minimum 1000USD in US. Only the camera is 550USD at a dealer, but I've buy one from eBay for my Prius with 130USD. It was a car salvage..
UK cameras are on the left too. It doesn't make any difference as the field of view is so wwwwiiidddeee
The rear camera operates when the car is in reverse irrespective whether the IPA button is activated or not. The IPA button merely allows IPA operation whilst reversing.
