The dealership said the first service is at 5000 miles. They said the maintenance light will come on to indicate that it needs maintenance. I drive only 30 miles a day, 5 days a week on very bad roads (potholes, road gaps). So that means the first service will be in April of next year? (I bought the car in april)
30 x 5 = 150 x 10 weeks = 1500 miles, so 2 1/2 months. 5 months = 3000, 7 1/2 = 4500. so 8 months about 5000 miles. that sounds like december.
According to Toyota, you should have it serviced at least once per 6 months (for a tire rotation). Oil changes at 1 year or 10k miles.
Ya you cannot go by time for tires. They don't wear sitting in the garage. Now the oil for me is a combination of time and miles. 6 months is probably about right.
There is really no reason to rotate tires at all unless you want to wear them all 4 out at the same time, which I do. Then just rotate them every 10K or 20K miles and inspect them for unusual tread wear every 5K. The only one that benefits from 5K tire rotations is the dealer you pay to rotate them. This will not effect the warranty on your car at all, only the tire warranty and tire warranties are of no value anyway.
