Wow-w-w-w...Bones worked in a blatant Prius product mention and demo of the LKA while 2 of the characters drove a 2010 tonight down the highway tonight. Way to go PriusTeam! What'd you have to pay for that commercial?!
This is not the first time the Prius has been showcased on Bones. Earlier this season Brennan demo'ed the Prius NAV system. It is, however, the first time the title "Prius" has been mentioned specifically.
I remember last summer, before I bought my prius, I saw also a product placement in the USA network's show Royal Pains. One of the characters had one and she explained some of the features like solar panel and high fuel economy. At the time I found it a little cheesy, but now that I own one, I find it cool. I guess I like this car so much that any mention of it reinforces my buying decision.
If anybody caught Parenthood this week the a 2010 Prius V was in a driveway. They were pulling up to the driveway in the 2011 brown Sienna and then in front of it was a 2010 Prius V. Prius is getting a lot of placement in shows lately.
We just watched the Pilot of Bones last night... which season is currently airing? (it will be awhile before we are caught up using Netflix...)
General Hospital (an afternoon soap) has been using the Prius for a while now. Several of them. Depends on which character they show driving in a car.
A quick synopsis: The two main characters are Temperance Brennan and Seeley Booth. Booth is an FBI agent and Brennan is a forensic anthropologist. (She unabashedly calls herself the best.) Together they solve murders where, more often than not, the only evidence is skeletal remains. Booth has also nicknamed Brennan "Bones". They, and several supporting characters make a quirky and funny mix.
I found it embarrassing. I cannot stand how this show is doing this now with Toyota and a bit less with Chevy. I HATE how tv shows are doing this now with cars.
Blame the car manufacturers who are sponsoring the shows. The show doesn't have to be quite so blatant about it though. On "Reaper" the placement was much more subtle.
Anybody watch Fringe? Its like a Ford commercial exploded on Fringe. Big dramatic scene...interrupted by a shameless Sync plug...it is annoying I agree. Its also funny that the FBI agents on Fringe all drive Taurus SHOs and $70,000 Lincoln Navigators too...with police lights!
