Is it possible via CD, streamed or other forms of storing movie files?

This probably fits your definition of 'other' - This product is for 06/09 owners ... but it bodes well for like products to enable '10 models the ability to display your vids.

TOYOTA PRIUS 2006-2009 NAVIGATION INTERFACE - TOYOTADVI

I have no experience with the technology - but see the lack of plackback when parked a minor ding in an otherwise steller implementation.
I have not joined the ranks of Prius owner yet - but plan to take the plunge before the month is out.

I too wish to watch videos while on long trips. I miss it, had it in my 09 forester, it was amazing for long trips.

Me, too--although it gets in the way of my texting while driving...

    For the 2010/2011 . . . TOYOTA PRIUS 2010-2011 NAVIGATION VIDEO INTERFACE

I wonder if the iPad could connect to one of these for video playback. Better yet, get some velcro and stick the iPad over the Nav screen (better resolution and bigger picture) - LOL.

Update from Coastaletech guys on the Prius install:

The DRL-2P will work in your car. We just don't have the 2010 specific instructions for it yet. The only problem you will have is locating an IGN wire that goes to +12V when the car is in RUN mode. The other wires are easy to identify (signals, park, ground). If you have a volt meter or test lamp, along with a wiring diagram, you can probably find this wire. Check back near the end of the summer for Gen3 specific module.

Really? Are you guys insane? Why don't you just ride blind-folded while you are at it?

Well now thats just plain silly.
How can we text, watch video's or crack open a six pack if we're blindfolded?

I tried the blindfold thing at our defunct air base (El Toro) - it is pretty much impossible to figure out where you are going - and you must drive very slowly. Even with a passengers assistance, it is not easy (verbal instructions).

I do not recommend driving blindfolded on open roads - it is hazardous and very dangerous - and why you would advocate it is plane silly.

Not sure about the stock Nav, but some players have other inputs - I know our Lexus GX allows DVD playback - but you must cut and jumper wires to allow playback during driving...

All aftermarket devices make it pretty easy and straight forward.

If you don't want one full time, why don't you try to rent a sense of humor for a while and see if you like it.

I am pretty sure they are joking.

Just FYI - I don't think anyone's joking - DVD playback on long rides is critical to many - and possible on most cars - with slight modifications...

The NAVI screen for the GenIII is not really optimal for viewing...the screen is too slanted to really be a good DVD player, esp. in bright sunlight. I can understand doing this on my Sienna or GX where the screen is more vertical.

You can actually watch DVD in the sieanna nav as long as it is in park and the ebrake is engaged. But it will only show whatever is playing in the rear entertainment. But there's always a way around it to make it play while it is in drive.

See DNX6960 link in my signature. I have been putting in DVD music videos, just for listening audio in AC3. I can actually hear the difference over mp3.
