Today is my first day to drive my car to work. Too bad that I work at downtown and have to park at garage and I can't really show the car to my colleague. Anyway, the drive was so smooth and smart key is just awsome On my way home, I parked my car in front of Office Depot. This old lady walked to my car and started talking to me. She said she has a '04 Prius and love it too. She also said PA resident who owns the Prius can get $500 from the State. She spoke with her township representitive and they confirmed it and will mail her the form. Since she lives in a different town, I'm wondering whom I should call to get the $$. Does anyone know about this? Also, the lady said this program was mentioned in last weeks paper. Anyway, true or not, I thought I would let you know about this. I'll post more info if I find out it is true. Kiki
I already put in for mine !!! Here is the E-mail I received from the state: The Department of Environmental Protection we will be offering rebates to individuals that live in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that purchase new hybrid electric vehicles, bi-fuel, dual-fuel or dedicated alternative fuel vehicles. The rebate amount for calendar year 2005 will be $500. The rebate will be offered throughout the calendar year as long as funds are available. Rebates will be offered on a "first come, first served" basis. With this new program, you will need to purchase your vehicle before you apply for the program. The rebate program will consist the following: (1) You must be an Pennsylvania Commonwealth resident (2) Vehicle must be registered in this (Pennsylvania) Commonwealth at time of purchase (3) Purchase a new hybrid electric vehicle before you apply (4) Vehicle must be operated primarily within this Commonwealth Once the program opens, from the date that you purchased your vehicle, you will have up to six months to submit for reimbursement. Hopefully, by next week information will be available to the public. You would need to visit our website at www.dep.state.pa.us, Keyword "alternative fuels" for the rebate form and rebate program guidance. WOW!! Thanks!! I'm surprised that the dealer didn't know or mention this. And thanks Kiki for talking to people in parking lots.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(paprius4030\";p=\"82554)</div> Yes, it does. The lady I spoke with bought her Prius in Nov. '04 Good luck. Kiki
I just checked out the web site. I have my Prius for over 6 months, so i guess I'm out of luck, rats!
Hey, thanks for the info. I was on PA's web site a month ago, and it indicated that the program was closed. Perhaps that was an indication that the 2004 program had spent all their funds. (This is from memory, but I'm pretty sure that there was a set amount of funds, and once that was exhausted they stopped handing out rebates.) paprius4030, I feel for ya. I'll file the rebate forms at the end of this month, after I take delivery of my new Prius. kiki_bos, thanks again!
Cleo Arp sent me the E-mail on 25-MAR-05. The links were not immediately live. She responded with the e-mail below: You are correct, the forms are not live yet; but should be live by the COB today (March 30). Please make sure that you download the correct forms. You want to download the documents below: Rebate Program Guidance Hybrid Electric Vehicle/Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Form ________________________ Based off of that, send her an e-mail and ask if you can still apply. The answer is "no" if you don't ask.
I think, could be wrong: HEV: refers to hybrids. Hybrid energy vehicle? AFV: Alternative fuel vehicle. you should not need to document the parts for a prius.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(genalex\";p=\"95907)</div> This seems to be the most comprehensive list of incentive laws regarding hybrid vehicles that I've come across: http://www.hybridcars.com/incentives.html Unfortunately, it looks like New Jersey isn't currently in the game. But Connecticut is, and I'll be saving $1,595 because the sales tax is waived.
I received my $500 rebate from PA's program yesterday. I was starting to get concerned about not receiving the check about a week ago, so I contacted them. Cleo Arp (see earlier in the thread) informed me that it took 6 - 8 weeks after they received the application for the check to be received by the applicant. That said, I probably should have had some patience, as I received the check 4 1/2 weeks after PA received my application. My thanks to the members of PriusChat that posted the info about the rebate.
