Hey Guys, Has anyone changed the footwell lights and glove compartment light to LED? If so, what LEDs did you use? I would like to change them to a blue color...any ideas?
John, check out this page: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...fications/68171-interior-led-lighting-10.html HI MPG gives you information as what to order and from where. "For the footwell lights and glovebox light, you need to order from parts.com. The parts are based on a 2006 Lexus IS250. The part number is 81080-22040. They are approximately $11/piece."
oh cool thank you! I only see one color in there? I was wondering if there is a way to change it to blue?
Do all the Priuses have this footwell lighting? I have a Prius III, and I have lights in my doors, and a light in the glove box, but I don't see any footwell lighting. (Or does 'footwell lighting' refer to the lighting in the doors? Many Thanks, Eric
With the Gen IIs, the glove box lighting is LED from the factory. Is this not the case with the Gen III? Tom
Hey Eric, I think I read in the forums here that the footwell lighting is in the base packages of IV and V
John, You are correct about the packages for the footwell lighting. BTW, the LED unit in the glovebox is the same as for the footwell, so you could order an additional unit if you want to change that one out to white. Calvin
I just checked my M II by removing the upper kick plate (plastic) in the passenger's foot well. I looked up there and could not find a connector for the foot-well lamp option. I used a maglite to check so if there is a socket for this option, it's out of normal sight. I did notice a hole in the kick plate which is probably where the bulb assembly goes.
So I don't see an answer to john0383 question about the color unless I missed something. Bought my first Prius on Saturday and would like to change the color.
No other color unless you want to go with white (the Lexus LED). I know someone who ordered the white LEDs and then covered the housing with blue cellophane. It looked pretty good. So I guess you could approach the same route and then cover it in whatever color you want the lighting to be...
It's very easy. The bulb housing itself is not like the standard LED bulbs you see out there. For the glovebox, you just have to open the bottom door and reach behind the horizontal shelf. You'll feel some wires, so follow that to where the housing connecs. For the footwells, you can remove the kick panels... which makes it a lot easier to remove and install. I would recommend changing the footwell ones first so you know how to unclip the bulb housing from the wire connectors. Here's a link to what the bulbs look like: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...8171-interior-led-lighting-10.html#post999276
I know this is an old thread.. But we are returning her is250 lease today so I just removed the lights from her car lol.. I'll install in my Prius when I have a second.. Thanks for postin this!
