I have an odd feeling that the ToyotaTown people are now wondering why they should offer a group discount if individuals are willing to pay their going rate...

As I recall seasalsa bought his from BC on March 3rd. US dealers (carsontotota; who is a fine group and are wonderful people) want $59 plus freight once they arrive. At $60CDN (flaps and freight) thats about $45US. Thats a savings of $14US plus freight. US dealers would have to cut their prices by 24% just to match Canadian.
As a certified purchasing manager (C.P.M.) am all for saving money and group, or consortium buying as its called, is a wonderful way. However, I just spent $26,000 and I hate dirt, rocks, chips, dents, etc. I cant justify waiting a few weeks to save another $5 or so while my new pride and joy is trashed on the roads. "Gotta have the flaps". 8)

I'd give ToyotaTown a call soon, I think the Canadian place will be getting a lot of calls. I went by my Toyota Parts Dept., they can get me the flaps from the Gulf States Region where they are a port option, but they'll cost me $78/set (that is $78 for the front + $78 for the rear)!!!!

If ToyotaTown in Canada will ship them to me for about $45 for both sets I'm going that route unless we have a group deal soon that meets/beats it.

    $45 EACH, right?

I'll still just take a front set for now, unless they are that low...

    Evan -

If you have a chance to give them a call today then please be the PriusChat liason. I don't know if I'll have a chance to call until after 5:30 EST today and I'm not sure what their hours are.

Have Prius now (Yay!). Took delivery on National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day (Fri. April 3).

Need flaps now. Certainly can order direct from Canada, but will watch here first. Tom. PS Dealer price $158 installed

I used Visa to pay for mine because of the automatic currency conversion. The total charge to my account for a full set of 4 Splash Guards was $38.18 including shipping. Since the exchange rate changes daily current price may vary.

They really made a difference, no more splashes up the side of the front doors. The effect of the rear guards is not as apparent.

OK, now I'm wondering how any US dealer can ask over $150 for even a full set and not feel ashamed. Can't be THAT much labor in putting them on.

If the group discount doesn't work out by 4/9, I'll be calling in my order...

    Hi Seasalsa,

For the splash guards that you bought from Canada, what service did you use for shipping?

I am thinking of ordering the visors & deflector from Canada and it sounds like you got a good deal on the shipping.

    Thanks!

Installed mine on my Driftwood - very subtle, but they do the job. Posted photo in Appearance Modifications photo album, also in my personal album. I do not think they affect drag, as they are no wider than the tires themselves. BTW, the set of 4 was about $45 including shipping from Canada.

Had to order mine today from ToyotaTown...the dang black crap splashed on the car just after washing and mud sprayed all the way up to the rear-view mirror is just too much.

They are back-ordered with anticipated shipping in about 1 week. $50 CDN + $10 shipping CDN.

Sweet sounding gal on the other end of the line...but aren't all those Canadian girls sweet?

Had my splash guards, as the Canadians refer to them, installed yesterday along with the paint protection film kit. The guards are molded specifically for the Prius and fit just fine. We did notice, however, when installing the rear guards that the black plastic lower rear trim did bulge alittle, nothing major.

Evan, with regards to those sweet sounding Canadian ladies, thats who puts the "O" in "O Canada"? 8)

I'm still working with Steve on it, but in his last email (friday I believe) he said that right now he just can't get his hands on enough of them to satisfy the board. He can get 5, maybe 10 tops. We're still in talks with one another, but if you feel you need them ASAP I wouldn't wait for the Group Buy to be arranged.

"Need" is relative. I *need* to order them before the price goes up due to demand...

:p I finally installed the mud flaps and side window visors! easy enough to do. took time jacking up each rear tire one at a time using the supplied jack (which is tedious compared to hydaulic ones). overall... looks great! :p next up will be the invinca shield.... when i find the time again.
