http://alexkarahalios.home.comcast.net/200.../2004Prius.html shows what Tideland really looks like! at least the best I have found online ...
That's a very useful set of photos.....too bad Toyota's site doesn't portray a better idea of the color. I had my heart set on the light minty sort of green I thought Tideland was and at the last minute, asked the salesman if he had color chips. Don't get me wrong, I think the actual color is very classy, but I wanted a light color and when I saw the chip, I ordered white. A friend of mine got a Chrysler 300 in a color similar to Tideland and it looks super, but I've yet to see the Prius in Tideland in person.
I had decided on the 'green' thru process of elimination - I had had other colors, neighbor had a blue one, etc.. Originally I wanted a Nissan Altima in the cool green, but figured the 20+ extra MPG from the Prius was too good a deal. I was hoping the Tideland would be close to the Altima ... I saw a couple of Tidelands on the road and still decided to take it; it is a cool color as well. Now I see maybe the '06 will have a closer-to-Altima color and power seats!
Tideland is the hardest Prius color to explain... Rick if you picked it I'm sure you'll love it... I will look gray in some light and green in other... but either way it is a neat color. Bob Andersen
Rick, Here's a few other photos under different lighting conditions. I've found that depending on whether the sun is out, the car will be either a slate gray or green... Cheers,
Sorry - I need to update/add my 'sig'. I already own a Tideland (picked up 6/9/05) and love it. I have seen discussions recently about the color/mismatch with Toyota brochures and thought I would post the link so others could 'see' it properly! After buying my Tideland (partly because someone else at my job had a tan one (my next choice in color)), a few days later someone else parks a Tideland next to mine! Oh well - good to see Prii becoming almost common!

I posted the link with the color box (or whatever it is called) - I think if you know how to adjust/calibrate your monitor (using the color box in the pix) it would give you the most realistic color renditions ... Not that I really know how to do that ... Aha, I finally figured out how to attach a signature ...
i also have a tidelands and was a bit disappointed in it when it arrived. i also wanted the color as portrayed on the brosure mostly because it was as an exact match to my bike. but i have learned to love the color and kinda prefer it now because there are very few cars i see that are the same color. cant say that for the other choices *edit* as an aside, you can see small part of the color of my Prius in my avatar. pix was definitely taken on one of my Prius' "greener" days
Those pictures very accurately show how Tideland looks in real life. Good reference! Maybe it should be placed in the photo gallery here... er, there is one, isn't there? In any case, they do a good job of showing how the color is really a medium gray that occasionally looks sort of green. It's not a bad shade of gray but it is gray.
