Anyone got the bluetooth and voice command buttons to work with an aftermarket radio?

    I got mine installed today.

    Everything works with the steering wheel controls.

    Only issue is this. It seems like the fader and balance is not working right. The installer said that the interface I had for the JBL had only four rca inputs (fr, fl, rr, rl) so he thinks that this may cause an issue with my package (prius 3) because I have 6 speakers.

    Any body get this working?

    Response from METRA

    This is a digital amplifier that only receives 2 channels of input. The fade is controlled by DATA, which is why the TYTO has 4 RCA’s. The TYTO then sends fade information that it receives from the head unit to the amplifier. If you have a bad RCA or a pin in one of the connectors is either bent or pushed out of the connector you will have fading issues. Please check all harnesses for bent or pushed out pins, and do a continuity test on the RCA’s.

    I was wondering why there were 4 and not 5 inputs. That makes sense, thanks (not that I have the jbl amp, but was curious)

    Double checked the schematics, the response from Metra was correct: there are only two audio inputs (left and right). There are also four data lines, mute, speed pulse, and power/ground lines.

    So if the head unit tries to output something to the front speakers only (the "beep" sounds, NAV sounds, etc), I wonder how the adapter handles it.

    It's also possible for Metra (or PAC) to enable ASL function via the dip switches. The adapter only needs to send the command to enable this function (it's handled by the amplifier). Something for the people at Metra/PAC to figure out for the next version of the TyTO/TATO.

    So I have my installer coming back out tonight to hook back up the speed wire and the illumination wire and rewire the TYTO. I wonder if he can just connect the speed pulse to the TYTO?

    Since you have the Prius III, the speed wire is not on the harness. There's no way to get it via the TYTO. Refer to my other thread for instructions on the speed wire's whereabouts:

    The Canadian Premium package is very similar to the Prius III (JBL w/o NAV). The easiest way to get the speed wire is tap it in the JBL amp under the passenger seat. I highly recommend connecting it, hopefully your installer can do it. I did it without removing the seat.

    Hey folks,

    I have been following this and related posts regarding upgrading US Prius II with NAV/reverse cam etc. As there are 3 posts, it is sort of getting more and more confusing. Green Curry expert, could you pl. list all the parts needed with procedure (I know it is on the other thread) for II and III separately in one place for slow ones like me. Thanks again for all your inputs and sharing everything with us.

    The majority of members who upgraded their head units are Prius II owners, so look at their threads. Do a search for "head unit", "NAV upgrade", etc. For Prius II you need the dash kit (scosche or metra), 87-up harness, PAC-SWI, and the head unit. Speed wire is located on the radio harness. Reverse wire is the same on all cars. The only difference between Prius II and III is they use PAC TATO instead of 87-up, and the location of the speed wire is different.

    Thanks green ce. Mine is a Prius II that came with blu-logic bluetooth accessory (without steering controls). Can I be able to hook this upto my new HU (leaning towards JVC). What type of PAC-SWI do I need as there was some discussion regarding different formats.

    Note: if your car does not have the bluetooth buttons the steering wheel, installing the PAC SWI will let you control the volume, source, and track up/down (whatever is on your touch tracer buttons).


    Speed wire on the Prius II is pin 3 on the radio harness. Aftermarket radio install wise, Prius III, IV and V (w/o NAV) is the same as Canadian Premium package. Prius II is same as Canadian base.

    Thanks for the info. Any idea about the blu-logic bluetooth I mentioned about. Mine is pretty much the base II model but has this accessory. This BT accessory control is not on the sterring wheel but next/below the power switch. It is connected to the radio (may be from inside) and works similar to the III. Can I be able to hook this to the JVC system or should I buy JVC BT.

    If you replace the HU The BT will have to be replaced Ths is the HU I installed with the BT adapter.
