Sometimes when the Multi-information display is showing the Hybrid System Indicator screen, the background of the top portion is illuminated in a purple color. What does that mean? I couldn't find that in the Owner's Manual.
I don't know off hand what you mean by purple, I have never noticed it if it does it, but it means nothing if it is showing a purple color on the HSI screen within the Multi Information Display.
Paul, I've never seen purple on the screen either. Is it just purple in one small area? If so, you could have an issue with your screen itself. Is it possible to post a picture here? There are a lot of folks here who could possibly assist if you could post a picture of it.
I know just what you're talking about. It has to do with the light outside the car--perhaps the position of the sun, something like that.
Aha! I do have the Solar Ventilation System which includes the Moon Roof, so I suppose it could be the sun shining directly on the display that makes it look different. I'll position the car that way and see if I can reproduce it.
I have seen that too and believe that there are slight variations in the appearance in different lighting conditions.
Were you driving at 88 mph? some crazy stuff can happen at this speed... Beware of time travel also. But seriously, i have no idea
I recently got a new pair of sunglasses, which are polarized. The dash and windows take on this weird hue, I would not say that I experienced purple, but certainly a different shadow effect. Try looking at your display in daylight and night or inside the garage without any sunglasses. Good luck
Actually, it had nothing to do with the moon roof. Around noon, when the sun is shining down directly, it reflects off the dash and illuminates the display, producing the purple color. I thought it was trying to tell me something. Turns out it doesn't matter which mode the display is showing.
You might figure out that the shadow area (not only on hybrid system indicator but also consumption screen) is exactly the car's faint shape shown on energy monitor screen. But I don't know whether it's normal or not - more like the LCD monitor's aging effect...
I get the purple color too - when the sun is shining through windshield at a certain angle. I don't have a moon roof or wear sun glasses. It freaked me out the first time also Chris
