More likely, like the USB and Safety Connect "option" for $680, they will add these later in the 2010 year and up the price $8500 and add a monthly maintenance charge for Nitrogen.

    Here, here.

My 1997 Chevy pickup truck had sun visors that extended. I can't think of a whole lot else that Chevrolet does better than Toyota, but this one thing is a bit of a surprise.

if they were any lower, I wouldn't see the cars in front of me. I don't get the complaints.

I'm happy the sun visor is so short, it could definitely have a slid out to be longer though, like my Rav. Silly Toyota people (I've said this a couple of times before too!).

It's the side window vision that's a big part of the issue.

I, too, would love to have either a sunvisor extension, or the ability to slide it to block the sun when the sun comes in the driver's window.

There are so many smart and thoughtful touches in the Prius, so this one stands out as a glaring error - every time I am unable to protect my eyes from the sun. It would truly improve the driving experience to correct this issue.

We are a two Prius family, and both of us find this an annoying problem. Toyota has been so good at providing numerous helpful, practical, things it is hard to understand why this issue has not been addressesed. I hope they fix it in the future.

I would love newer, larger, double extendable visors as I have seen on other cars. Keep me in the loop on this one, fer sure.

Stupid question, but are there any Toyota's that have the visor you want? Would it be of the right color and fit?

I was looking for a solution for this problem and found some interesting info. Toyota may have intentionally not offered the visor extender because of safety issues with the side/curtain airbags.

Toyota p/n 74320-21160-B0 Left Sun Visor with Extender
Description: Tan Sun Visor with extender for drivers side. Not for use in vehicles with side airbags.

I am unable to the post the url since I a new member.

And it's not so easy to find something to clip onto the visor then slide out to block the sun on driver's side. I checked several stores and Toyota dealer, found nothing, but I did see such a device online.

Agreed though. Gen3 Prius ought to have sliding extensions in visor. The higher end Tacomas have them.

Too bad Toyota chooses to omit important items of comfort. I have sun on the side of my face to and from work (80 miles RT) and the sun is always out of shading range of the little visor in my Prius.

Goo Gone is great at removing "sticky" but I always try lighter fluid first. It's not as damaging to most materials and a good first try. I think I'll try it first. If that doesn't work then try the Gone. I've ruined a few plastics with Gone to learn this lesson.

I just order a simple fix. Strap with a slide out extender. Not rocket science, but I hope it works.

Got it a Hybridcars dot com. Product code is VISORBL

Before using an extender I would think and check what would the extender do to your heads if the curtain airbag needs to explode. There is a picture in the user's manual that clearly says not to place objects in specific places in the car just for this reason.
At least in EU, the Prius is sold with UV protected window glass. But I understand the sun coming from one side can be very annoying (and cooking your arm...).
The thing I miss the most, though I would not have used it a lot lately, is some form of clip or band on the sun visor, to slide in thin objects, like cards, toll tickets, receipts. There is no real place for these objects you can reach quickly and easily, except the pocket in the main tunnel (which at night is a total Black Hole - I had to install an LED light to see what's in there at night - could they just put one additional LED light and charge us, say, 1€ more???).

Nail on the head. This is why there are no extenders.

Somebody needs to offer an aftermarket fix here... I just suffered an hours long afternoon/sunset hell cruise without the slide function... My 2000 Land Cruiser has slides! Everything else I've driven has them too! Wth!
