I took a 1400 mile trip this weekend. I wanted to track the mpg over the entire trip. I noticed twice that the mpg would reset after I filled the tank. Is this the normal behavior? How can one track mpg (other than by pencil and paper) over a long trip that requires multiple fillings of the tank?
Yes, and it is discussed in the owners' manual. You can also use a pen and paper, a PDA or a notebook computer.
Under your speedometer screen, the odometer reading can be set to "trip 2" which then toggles between "total (Lifetime) mileage" and the mileage since "reset" was selected for the trip 2 odometer. The mileage on the Multi Function Display can be reset simply by touching the "reset" screen button, or allowing it to reset itself within a mile after refueling (whether or not filling the tank completely).
