Its a piece of cake to flip up, just pull on the sides of that little piece and it will go up, allowing you to flip the whole arm up. Did it yesterday to wipe the snow from my rear window, took all of 5 seconds.
Senna - have you tried calling a Toyota dealer in the U.S.? Since their service departments have to replace that part, they might know how to better assist you. I did a quick internet search and came up short as well. I even tried a generic auto parts online store.
Mine is exactly the same but I'm going to remove it this summer. To me the current rear wiper is as useless as it is a bother, especially during drying as it cannot be lifted and locked away from the glass. This last issue makes it so darn difficult to dry the car with a chami that it just isn't funny. Cheers; MSantos
For those of you looking for a longer 18" wiper arm there is one to be found. I have it on my favorites webpages at home. I will post it when I get home later today.
Is this what Prius 2010 owners complain about? A rear wiper? Take note, Toyota. This reminds me of the famous Rolls Royce ad which stressed one negative feature -- that you could hear the ticking of the clock.
Don't want to post the link to the 18" long wiper blade since it may be prohibited. Google sigma automotive to find it.
^^^ Thanks for posting the video. This mod should also work on Gen IIs, as I just went out and removed the cover on my '04 to see that it has that same tab on the cover. And I can now confirm that it works on a Gen II (2004) as well.
Longer wiper arm option also works for both Gen 2 and Gen 3. Gives a better wipe even though the blade extends just beyond the glass area.
