Just brought home my 2010 Pkg III. It did not come from the factory with auto dim and homelink. Sales person promised to add it later. Doesn't seem possible because there is no power to my mirror.

    Any thoughts?

We picked up ours last Friday. Did not come with so I asked about adding it. Was told it would be $250. None in stock so they ordered one. Should be in today and installed this week. We'll see. Will let you know.

It can also turn your home's lights on (internal / external).

My thought? Get the promise in writing.

It appears to me that the power comes from the overhead console; a squarish "tube" runs from the console to the mirror.

we got a prius III and the dealer installed the auto dim / homelink mirror - they did a fine job looks factory .. all concealed wiring ...

the only drawback is that if you look from the top you will see the raceway from the the little black square on the windscreen that hides the adhesive side of the rearview mirror holder to the interior lining ... the prius III can be orderd with this option straight from factory - in that case the black strip is already there - that means even if you are looking from top you wont see the raceway (just like prius V etc.) ... hope this helps!

Bummer. When I read the topic line I was hoping they had come up with an upgraded auto-dimming mirror (one that actually works 100% of the time with the rear wiper bar).

ours was included in the purchase price - so i dont have a line item price for it .. but should be $225 - $250 installed ...

also make sure you specify homelink auto dim mirror since toyota makes one without .. you can also go diy route and save $$$ .. hope this helps!

Picked up my 2010 last Saturday, so far it is great! Has a few annoying things missing that the 2005 Prius had; like driver and hatch auto unlock. Anyway I got a 2010 III with Nav. package and Monday they are going to install a Toyota factory upgraded auto-dimming mirror with Homelink. They called today to set up appointment. Sales guy said it was $346- but as I got an "upgrade" from my 2005 package #6 he put it in the deal. I'll post the outcome after the install next week.

I've got the homelink mirror from my '07 and would like to install it in my '10 model. Anyone know if its plug and play? All I have is the mirror with the attached wire and plug. I've got the solar roof package and there are already 3 holes up in plastic part on the roof where the wires would come out. Are the wire already there for the homelink?

Install went well. It looks factory installed and I believe it works better than the 2005 factory installed mirror.

I was disappointed that I could not find a positive power line activated by the car running, in the dome light hook up. Although there is power going there, it is always on, for the dome lights. To hook up an auto dim rear view mirror, I need power that goes on when the car is running. Any thoughts?

whats wrong with always on ? to me its a big plus over our BMWs since I can open and close the garage door while the car is off - it does have an on/ off switch if you wanna leave the car parked for days) ... and I cannot imagine the photosensors eating up too much of battery charge ...

I just ordered mine from Toyota today and am going to have a trusted local shop do the install. I had the autodim/homelink on my previous Prius and really liked it. Part should be coming in on Tuesday. Shopped around for it and was concerned when some of the 3rd party vendors mentioned (not for moonroof). When I called Toyota Parts/Service the install at Toyota was almost as much as the part itself! They did tell me however that there it was actually easier to install on one that had a moonroof since all the wiring was "up there." I got the same info from 3 dealerships I called.
