Hello all. We just purchased a 2008 Priuis Barcelona Red with 26,900 miles on it. Car looks brand new, drives beautifully and has a Clean Carfax and Autocheck. Paid 15,400 for it. Hopefully got a good deal. Had been looking for a couple of months and this seemed to be the best, plus I had to have red! Anyway, we're excited about our purchase, and I'm glad to find this board with its great advice.
:welcome:Jim to PC and congrats on your new car! You got a good deal with very low mileage on a 2008. I already have 50K miles on my 2007. Enjoy your new car
welcome! I have a Barcelona red as well and my mileage is just over 30K. awesome car. nice to know my car still has good value altho frankly it doesnt matter. I wont sell this car ever. My wife has one in same year only light blue. The most I have ever paid for gs was $17 a week for a whole lot of driving. The Expedition was over 100 a week! and that was gas prices before the Prius in 08! You did very well. Enjoy your car in confidence. It is one of the finest engineered cars rolling!
Indeed, :welcome: to PRIUSchat  Barcelona Red, you gotta' love it! Our Amapola -- with a few mods:
Thanks all for the welcome! This board is great - I've learned so much just by browsing around the different forums. I'll try and get some pics this week and post. I'm looking forward to long-term ownership of my new (used) Prius!
Thanks Gray. I'm planning on using Libertyville Toyota as they are less than a mile from my house. Where do you go for service?
Wow, excellent deal at that price. Private sale or dealer? Welcome to PC and enjoy the car. Just be careful with the Energy display at first, it can be too distracting! - D
Unfortunately I can't really make any positive recommendations based on my own experience with dealer service departments who all appear to have been too busy taking customers' money to actually do quality work on my car. I've had one dealership totally fail to do a oil change properly and I'm honestly starting to ask myself why I bring the car to the dealership at all if I have to personally double-check all the work they do. Now I understand why virtually all the Toyota dealerships in Chicago show a 1-2 star rating on Google maps (query: Toyota dealership near Chicago).
I like Breademan in Park Ridge. That might be far for you. Otherwise, if I have to use one in the city I would choose Grossinger City Toyota. They have a new facility by North and Halsted.
Illinois Jim, I am looking for a 2008 in Chicago and wanted to know what package you got on yours. Also, which Ford dealer did you go to?
nice to have you aboard jim and wife! my 08 has 20,000. 2nd prius is an 04. i think you're gonna love it and the great people here at p/c.! all the best! paul.
Congratulations to you on a great purchase. We have an '08 with 32k on it. Great car. Once you own one, you quickly realize everything else on the road is so 20th Century! May I offer you two thoughts based on our personal experience: 1. Others at PC have described the gas gauge as the "guess gauge." They are not far off the mark. It can be fairly unreliable. 2. If your Prius has Goodyear Integrity tires (OE tires), beware of wet weather. They are not up to the task. Enjoy your Prius.
