Does anyone know if there is any chance of getting the Iceberg Silver Mica Metallic color on a Prius in the US? It is a standard color in Japan.
Unlikely. It took 4 years to bring the Spectra Blue Mica for the Gen 2 over to the US (and Canada never got it). Also, we never got the pearl white on the Gen 2 which was available in Japan.
US also doesn`t get the color of my Prius. But at the same time, Japan doesn`t get some of the US colors... Like that tan sandy looking color.
Hey you can get any color you want. All it takes is a trip to the paint shop. Keith P.S. Don't forget your wallet.
6 options available in Israel. White - not metalic Pearl White - Metalic. Black - not metalic Silver-Metalic. Blue -Metalic. Dark Grey (my choise) - Metalic. The metalic colors go for a few hundred $ more (when I ordered in Dec the asked for an additional $270 - now they want double)
I'm still amazed at how they charge for metallic paint. Over here in NA, it's only the European car manufacturers (and a few US/Japanese manufacturers every now and then) that charge for metallic paint. It's usually a no-cost extra. I believe Sandy Beach Metallic is only available in NA. I think the rest of the world left beige behind in the last decade... or millennium.
The only color that Toyota in the US charges extra for is Blizzard Pearl. In the US it is a $220.00 add.
Same in Canada. Pearl whites have always been extra charge (Diamond White Pearl, Arctic Frost Pearl and Blizzard Pearl)
Yes you are right This is the first time I had to pay more for metallic paint It is usually the Europeans cars that do it and never owned one of them
Honestly I can't really tell from the picture. I have always liked Lexus colors better, however - which are usually metallic. Especially that really dark graphite color they have. So its nice to see the 2010 Prius with the current blizzard pearl. It's the "off white Lexus."
And they're expensive.. up to Cdn$800 (which is almost the price they charge for an automatic transmission.. ~Cdn$1,200)
