prius people. i am 6 ft 3 in. and have a question? maybe this has been talked about before! i've heard that toyota has a couple extra holes drilled into the seat rails below the front seat? love my prius but if this were true then goody . does anyone know for sure? has any tall person ever had this done.? if the seat went back just a few inches more that would be heavenly. wonder if this is a simple matter to do or does toyota have to preform the doing? just curious? thanks . pete
I would like to know too. Any front seat mod to lower it would be nice to see the traffic lights when I stop.

I just read a post on this subject: try this: http://priuschat.com/forums/plan-for-reloc...ats-vt6796.html And here is another post with moving seat info: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=17812&hl=move+seat Good luck
Here is a link to a post I did a short while ago, complete with photos, of a friend's Prius that the seat rails were remounted 2 inches further back: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=19777&st=20 Read the text as it notes some of the weirdness that occurred with the dealer that did the work. Oh man...this thread has all these links I was looking for, and I was all excited! ...but none of them work. *sigh* :-(
There was someone who had new rails fabricated and was selling them. I briefly considered making the mod (I'm 6-1 with long legs), but then I considered that my head would be right at the B-pillar. A side impact could be fatal; I'd rather have my head where the side-curtain airbags can protect me.
I think there are two basic ways to extend the rearward travel of the Gen II Prius. 1. Weld on an extension of the seat rails as nyprius got a modifier of cars for the handicapped to do. Here's my post explaining and showing what nyprius had done: 2. Get pre-made seat rail extenders made by ExtendMySeat.com: PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius Drivers Seat Extension - ExtendMySeat [ExtendMySeat] - $195.00 Check out detailed reviews in this thread; and note that the original ExtendMySeat rail extenders had a design flaw which could lead to the extenders snapping; this supposedly was fixed with a redesign of the extenders in October 2009: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...view-extendmyseat-drivers-seat-extenders.html Good luck.
I think the side-curtain airbags have EXTRA protection at the B-pillar. See photo on page 3 of the 2005 Prius eBrochure: http://www.toyotacertified.com/ebrochures/05_prius.pdf .
