I have an 04 and want better handling for my mountain commute. I'm contemplating a Touring model but my dealer quotes $28K with Pack #6 being the only option. 1-- Is there any difference between 07 and 08 Touring? 2 -- Has anyone installed an aftermarket handling package with shocks & etc? 3 -- Dealer offered $17K for my 04; black, good shape, cloth seats, smart key and cd changer with CA HOV stickers 50K miles, Toyota waranty and no issues. 4 -- Dealer states up to three month wait for Touring ($28K plus fees & tax = $31K out the door) Any thoughts? Thanks, Al
'Touring' Differences 07,8 & 09? Where can I find the exact details of the differences in the suspension, wheels and etc of the 07, 08 and 09 Touring models. I've searched this forum to no avail. I'm shopping for a touring so thanks for any help.
Re: 'Touring' Differences 07,8 & 09? I'm not certain what questions you're asking, but this thread explains the differences between the suspensions of the Base/Standard Prius and the Touring Edition Prius: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/41925-touring-suspension-parts-research.html
Re: 'Touring' Differences 07,8 & 09? I can't figure how to clarify the question without simply repeating it -- Seeking the differences between the 07, 08 and 09 touring models. this might be shocks, wheels, sway bars? Any differences between the years? Thanks for the link -- it has relevant info
Re: 'Touring' Differences 07,8 & 09? If your question is "Are there any suspension or wheel/tire differences among the 2007, 2008 and 2009 model year Touring Editions?", the answer is no. All Touring Editions, no matter what the model year, had the same wheels, tires, springs, shocks and stabilizer bars.
Re: 'Touring' Info Please The following lists package options including the Touring Editions. http://priuschat.com/forums/knowledge-base-articles-discussion/37636-2gprius-2004-2009-standard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html It has been said in the past that only 5% of Prius sold in the U.S. were the Touring Edition. If that was the typical percentage sold each year then I guess there probably would be a wait for them. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/34795-availability-touring-edition.html
Re: 'Touring' Differences 07,8 & 09? No differences. Check the link timberwolf provided as there may be differences in packages.
To the OP, I'm from the Bay Area too. FYI, I paid $24,000 for my 2009 Touring #5 with 10,000 miles. It is in pristine condition. In the end it was $28K out the door, with taxes and extended warranty. Yes, we both know everything is way more expensive here in sunny CA. I'd actually be willing to sell you it if you're serious. Maybe we could talk.
Re: 'Touring' Info Please After having a standard Prius for 4 years I think the 'Touring' model is such a great upgrade -- I don't know why many more weren't bought or even why the Touring suspension would not have been standard. I don't know of any aspect that has a con about it = all pros! the Touring tracks better on the hiway, has less body roll and better handling in turns and does not have a harsher ride. It is easier to be a passenger on twisty roads with less body roll. In 09 Toyota offered Touring only in the top package which is goofy. In previous years it was offered as a $300 extra which is an amazing value. Very few bought it = goofy again. It has been said in the past that only 5% of Prius sold in the U.S. were the Touring Edition. If that was the typical percentage sold each year then I guess there probably would be a wait for them.
