There have been many threads about driving your new Prius home. This one is about my Prius V driving me home. Takes some getting used to, but after saying, "Go Home" to the Nav, engaging Adaptive Cruise Control and LKA - there wasn't much else to do for a couple of hours on the turnpike. At least that's the way it seemed. Car maintained speed, slowed down for traffic, kept me in the middle of the lane. I hardly had time to play with all the satellite radio stations and go through my son's iPod menu. Fortunately, my wife kept reminding me to keep at least one hand on the wheel. Maybe that will be a new option, someday.?
Congrats! I've never driven with LKA and adaptive cruise... I bet it does take much of the stress out of driving!
Now that's an option I "don't" want to add. j/k I'm glad you're enjoying all the cool features and enjoying the car.
The avionics do a pretty good job. This week I've been able to get the car to perpendicular park by itself in an open lot. Next week I'll practice next to someone. DIY is easier & faster.
I have been driving with adaptive cruise and LKA for about 9 months now. It is like having someone drive for you (at least part of the time). I really like both features.
Re: The avionics do a pretty good job. I would be really nice to have a Nexrad option on the Navigation.
I just wish that the 1st "bar" followed a little bit closer to the car in front of you. I find that a lot of people see that as enough room to cut in. It is annoying for the car to constantly slow and readjust every time someone cuts in front of you. The good news is that it appears that the system allows you to override it by stepping on the gas. So when someone approaches, I step on the gas to close the gap a bit and the system doesn't complain. Once I've maintained my position, I let off the gas and the DRCC slows down to the proper following distance.
Are you saying that a nagging wife will be a new Prius option someday? More seriosly; enjoy your new Prius!
I wonder if the Prius would have to take the breathalizer test if it was pulled for weaving within the lane?
