'07 owner here thinking of upgrading to a '10. I want to be able to carry my bicycle like I do on my Curt hitch-equipped '07 though. Any lucky '10 owners know? Thanks!
I'm going to go on a limb and say no based on prior experience between Gen I and Gen II. Gen III is slightly wider and longer, so the tie-down points used to mount the hitch have likely changed position. I'll see if I can't find a way to measure the width on both cars though.
No- just bought a 2010. Our local hitch installer tried to do a 2004-2009 hitch and the mounting holes aren't even close. Curt will have one available in the next few weeks- John
I just looked and the left side tie down hook doubles as a "stabilizer" for the tail pipe, so it can't just be removed. Some engineering will need to be done to assure that function is covered, the exhaust is not blowing on the hitch mount and the new width is covered. The good news is that the tie down loops are held in place by 4 sturdy looking bolts, so the hitch should be very stable.
We have a curt on our 2007 Prius and wanted to get another one for our 2006 Prius. I was shocked to find that they doubled the price of this hitch at carparts.com, they used to be around $91 shipped. I knew I should have ordered two of them...doh!
I called Curt this morning to verify availability and they told me they have not verified compatibility. So, I'm not sure how the other company in the link can claim they are selling a Curt Manufacturing hitch.. Sounds funny to me but I did see that they have a 1-2 weeks availability listed, which is about the same as what other people have been quoted by e-mailing Curt directly.
Yeah, I emailed them Wednesday and they said they hope to have it available in a couple of weeks. My fingers are crossed.
Just got my Curt hitch for my 2010 Prius and installed it today. Took about 30 minutes and required no modification to the plastic underbody panels. Biggest challenge was removing and re-installing teh bolt on teh exhaust side. The one furthest from the bumper is a little difficult to get to with the exhaust bracket partially blocking it. With a Knuckle attachment and a little finess it was not a big deal.
