I cannot seem to find a good place to install (suction cup) an aftermarket GPS in 2010 Prius. I had a Camry before -- windshield and view was wider, so it did not obstruct the view, no tangling wires to power it up. If you have an aftermarket GPS in your Prius, can you post pictures where you put it and tell me how it works for you?

I would appreciate your help! I am only 2-weeks old Prius owner. :) :)

I have a 2006 and I put it on the plastic cover over the cup holder on the center console. I don' know if the 2010 has the same configuration.

We use our Garmin Nuvi on a suction cup mount that attaches to the windshield on the lower left. This is the area that is legal in California and it works great. It only blocks my view of the front left fender of the Prius and a tiny area of the front view.

Thank you! What do you do about the power cables to the GPS? All the way from under the shifter and over the steering wheel?

I have a TomTom XL335S and i have it sitting in the cup holder. The Easy Mount allows it to sit there without rattling. You can see the 12V wire running between the bridge console panel. It's a clean placement, easy to touch the screen, and there is no wire to drape over the dash on a windshield mount. Downside is looking up/down and giving up a drink holder.

I *just* picked up my '10 Prius II tonight(!!) and I'm already wondering the same thing. I stopped in Target and was looking at a friction mount that just sits on the dash (for the Garmin Nuvi), but wasn't willing to sink $25 into it quite yet. I want to try positioning the suction cup somewhere first... Not quite sure where yet.

In my Corolla I just traded in I actually had mounted it quite low, in the little compartment that would probably hold CDs, just under the climate controls. I'm used to having it there, vs up on the dash or windshield.

The beanbag mount slides around a good bit. It starts out to the far left in the "corner". In the Gen2 it didn't move at all. Should I plug it I'll use the port by the seat heater switch.

Right now, we run the power cord across the dash and steering column and then down to the accessory 12 volt plug. It stays out of the way just fine. We only use our GPS when we drive to a place we don't know, so it is not there all the time. I suppose that I'll eventually search for a way to run the cord around the drivers side of the dash and then under the dash to the accessory plug. Let me know if you find a good way to route the cord.

Enjoy your Prius and your GPS. :)

I just saw the posts for other locations for a GPS. Although they all look fine, I like the mount on the left bottom of the windshield because it is easy to scan while driving, without taking your eyes off the road. Regardless of where you put your GPS, be sure to move it out of sight when you leave your car unattended in a public place.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 765T in my 2010 Prius. I have it mounted with a mini friction mount that is a sandbag type mount that was mentioned by someone else in the forum. It's on ebay item #260536948148 currently. Just over $16 with free shipping. The bottom is slightly tacky and it holds firm. I put it on the dash in front of the right corner of the display where they cruise icon is displayed. It could easily go elsewhere on the dash but the power cable runs up directly from the lighter socket underneath where I have it now.

    I have a TomTom XL.
It has a very neat suction cup mount as standard however it did not give a good angle when mounted on the little side window at the end of the dash.
Got the alternative mount with the gooseneck and it fits in very well. Cannot see much out of the little window but I couln't before mounting the GPS due to the angle and size.
Power is from the accessory socket under the console, have got a dual USB socket unit. using a USB extension cable I run the cable under the floor mat (Toyota genuine with proper clips on the back) then lifted up the edge of the trim and pushed the cable in until I got to the top of the dash.
My GPS has the traffic system so I was able to run the wire antenna out along the top of the dash at the bottom of the screen and the little suction cups that are provided push in under the screen and secure it nicely. The only addition I them made was to put one fo the 3M Command strips under the GPS to let it rest on the dash to prevent shaking.
On a long trip I often use both built in and add on GPS, normal driving around town use the built in unless the address is not found on it in which case I turn on the TomTom. When goind anywhere at peak hours always fire up the TomTom to take advantage of the RDS traffic info. The second USB port on the 12V adaptor is for a USB extension cable that is hidden behind various bits of trim and goes up to the top glove box to provide power to charge the phone while on bluetooth. Often the Javoedge battery is connected there to charge up and the phone or cameras connected to it so charging continues after the car is turned off.

002.jpg I have a Panavise mount that attaches to the dashboard. It is for the 2004/2009 so you would need to check with them for the 2010 model at Panavise.com I have added some pictures and hope they show up?

I mounted mine with the suction cup to the small window on the left side of the windscreen. It works great. I route the wires ocer the steering column and then to the plug. No picture available ATT.

Back before I had a 2010 Prius with nav, I used a garmin 660 in my 2007 touring edition. I used the black self adhesive disc on the dash, mounted it left of my sightline, and the suction cup held it down. This was a great mounting location as it had no obstruction to my line of sight, and yet put the GPS screen where I could see it without having to take my eyes off the road. :)

I use the same location for the same reasons with my Garmin 765 but I use a compact portable friction mount https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=33328 so that when I put it away there is no evidence of a GPS.

When the passenger is navigating, we put it in front of the right side of the Prius display but far enough over that the driver can see the whole display.

This mount does not slip in the locations we use.
