Toyota Prius ranked first in the compact car segment for J.D. Power and Associates’ 2010 Vehicle Dependability :cheer2:
Powers: Toyota ranks high in dependability - Pacific Business News (Honolulu): 2010 Vehicle Dependability Study Results | J.D. Power Ratings | J.D. Power
How can this possibly be? What about the cases of Priuses with unintended acceleration? You mean to tell me, JD Power, that ALL of the other cars out there are less dependable? You mean to tell me that perhaps these cases of SUA might be (gulp), operator error? I just cannot believe what I'm hearing! Where's Malorn to back me up when needed? This must be a mistake! Perhaps they accidentally reversed the pecking order? I'm sure they meant to say that a GM vehicle was #1 in each category.
While this is a study released in 2010, it is a 3 year study of 2007 models. This may explain why the Prius is rated as a compact. It also explains why models no longer being made are on the list. (Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice Convertible, Ford Five Hundred, etc.)
Given the circumstances, let's not argue about the right or wrong class. Let's focus on the no. 1 spot.
King of Swamp Castle: Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.
nice post. as people have addressed, the prius is mid-size. as for run away cars.... it's been said statistically that you have a greater chance of getting into a normal accident every year than jumping in a run-away toyota... normal accidents are pretty un-stoppable.. run away toyota's can be powered off... or you hold the brakes since they are stronger than the engines... thanks OP.
