Hi all! I am leaving the states for 3 weeks, and I will be leaving my Prius at home. Is it going to be bad on the car to sit that long? Should I have someone come over and drive it? Anything I need to do to it while it sits? THANKS PS- I just read about the STORAGE DRAWER on the center console- I was so excited to discover that! HAHA
I recently returned from a two-week vacation, and the car acted as though I had never left (i.e., it worked fine). The only thing I did was shut off the SKS before I departed. The SKS does drain power from the battery, and if you'll be gone for three weeks you should shut off the SKS. There is a small button under the dash near the base of the steering wheel (where it meets the bottom of the dash) If you push the button, you'll be shutting off the SKS. (I forget if the goal is to have the button pop out, or depressed; the manual will clarify this). Enjoy your time away. In my case, I had so much fun on my vacation that the Prius was about the only reason I was looking forward to coming home.
If you have the "Smart Key System" aka Keyless Entry, you should push the button below the steering column to turn that function off. Other than that just leave it alone, it will be fine.
Thank you- I figured I would push that button, I had heard something about that before. It is good to hear that yours started just fine! I cannot wait for my big trip- I am going to AUS- so that will be fun, PLUS there are Prius' there!
I left mine in the garage for over a month last October/November. I just turned the smart start off. It started first time when I returned.
I guess the miniature key would work, though I've never tried it. I used the remote to unlock the door, turned the SKS on, and then started the car like I normally do.
