I purchased both a 2010 Prius and a 2010 Tacoma from the Lewiston, Idaho (Roger's Toyota) dealership. I have received no recall information by mail or phone. I finally called them this morning and was told it would take a week to get me in. They also said they got a new recall this morning for the Tacoma but wasn't fixing them yet - concerning implementing a brake override update.
FINALLY!!! Yesterday(3/13/10), I received the official braking software recall document entitled: SSC AOB - CERTAIN 2010 MODEL YEAR PRIUS VEHICLES ABS ACTUATOR ECU UPDATE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (It was posted by First-Class Mail and had my Prius VIN on the front of this computer-generated letter.) I would imagine by now that other PC'ers have also received this notification and perhaps someone will soon scan this entire notice online. Besides spelling out the description of the problem requiring this safety recall, it emphasizes the following: "What should you do? This is an important Safety Recall Please contact your authorized Toyota dealer to install the newly designed ABS ECU software as soon as possible. The installation will take approximately 30 minutes. However, depending upon the dealer's work schedule, it may be necessary for you to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time." It also includes: "We request that you present this notice to the dealer at the time of your service appointment."
I got it, too. "Important Safety Recall." Note how that differs from the description of the update as a convenience issue by so-called experts here.
Got my recall notice 3 weeks ago. Sadly enough, we are still waiting for the delivery of the car we ordered in October.
I just received my "SSC A0B - Certain 2010 Model year Prius Vehicles ABS Actuator ECU Update Safety Recall Notice" in the mail today. The can't get me in until March 24th but I'm in no real hurry so no biggie.
I received my notice today, March 16, a month to the day after I had my ECU reflashed at the dealer, while I was in for an oil change.
Can anyone post a copy of the OCI/maintenance change notification? I've emailed my dealer, twice, with no response. Having a piece of paper to wave around might help, I'd guess. I did get the recall notice, yesterday. Interestingly enough, the same day I experienced the phenomenon in a long while. (I shouldn't say this--y'know, Murphy's Law, jinxing the whole dang thing and all, but it really wasn't that big of a deal...) Regards, Tim
I received a recall notice about five weeks after I had it done. I also received the new manual insert on 10,000 mile oil change.
Mine came in the mail today. I'll get around to it. While I'm there I'll find the person responsible for their robocalls, and ream their nice person. Email is OK, I have good spam filters.
I received my recall notice yesterday. I received the new maintenance guide about a week ago. I haven't received any info about changes to the pre-paid maintenance plan and when I called them about it a few weeks ago they basically said "tough luck".
Got the recall notice today! Already had the update done several weeks ago when it was first announced. Never had a problem prior, but did it for liability reasons!
Got my SSC-A0B notice last Saturday and my 2nd U.S. Census form yesterday... took care of both of these little chores today. I'm not sure I really needed this ECU firmware re-flash, but I'm certainly sure I didn't need another Census form.
