Not a lot of details on my first trip but it was from Atlanta to the SC border area, a round trip of about 300 mi. It was about half 4 lane, and half 2 lane. Drove very conservatively and the temp. hit above 50 deg. so ave. 51.8 mpg. Pleasing. This Fall planning a trip from Atlanta to Canada and back. Will report.
Sick of nothing but recalls and runaways on PriusChat? I'm bumping the Road Trip thread up, so that maybe we can hear about the reason that we buy cars--to go someplace interesting. (OK, we also buy cars to go someplace boring--i.e., to work, but let's ignore that for a while.) So tell us about interesting places you have taken your Prius. Suggest good places for the rest of us to go. Tell us about the roads that have challenged the limits of your Prius--e.g., the bumpiest road your Prius successfully navigated, or the one it didn't. Tell us about your mileage, since it's one topic all us Prius nerds want to talk about. Pictures? [I'd love to see some from PatSparks of the Australian outback.]
OK, I'll bite. I'm picking up my new Prius Friday and heading out to Texas on Monday for a BBQ Mecca tour along with a visit to relatives. Hitting Memphis on the way down, then on to the Central Texas joints around Austin, then coming back to Vermont thorough Kansas City. (Saving North Carolina for a bit later.) Not gonna rush the drive either. I will be sure to send posts to PriusChat along the way.
Every day is a trip for me in my '04 Prius. I commute from my home in Lexington, SC 103 miles to my job in Charlotte, NC. A quick computation adds up the mileage to over 1000 miles a week just commuting with nary a complaint from the Prius!
