... there's more to the story: the Prius apparently made a bird strike at brake rotors on a flock of geese then ditched into the Poucha Pond in Chappaquiddick. Sullenberger's passenger was a 28-year old flight attendant named Mary Jo Kopechne, who drowned. Sully was able to swim to shore and notified authorities on the following day
