i paid close to $2,400 for my extended warranty. i saw $1055 on this site. is that a legit company? what's a reputable company that sells extended warranty for prius. thanks.
Based on what I've read on the other extended warranty threads, the company seems to be legit. I just bought mine last week and currently waiting to receive the paperwork. I will let you know what happens =)
It's legitimate. It's a bona fide Toyota dealer authorized to sell the Toyota extended warranties, and authorized to sell them on PriusChat. Troy Dietrich = WarrantyShack.com = Toyota of Greenfield, MA = "TOG" on PriusChat. $1055 is for the 7 years/100,000 miles/$0 deductible Toyota Extra Care Platinum Plan extended warranty. Shorter or less comprehensive or $50 deductible warranties will cost less. Longer warranties will cost more.
thank you guys! i want to cancel the one i purchase at the STEALERSHIP. did you purchase this extended warranty too? nationwide coverage , right?
PIII Black thanks! I just talked to Troy & called Toyota Financial. I checked on Toyota Financial the SRP is only $1625 I think. They are selling it for $2375 what a STEALERSHIP!
the finance manager is such a big liar! i was asking him if i can purchase it later he said NO because toyota won't let you, it has to be that same day. i discovered that as long as the vehicle is still under warranty i can still purchase the extended warranty. i thought i was already wise enough to get screwed by this STEALERSHIP, i am wrong!
I posted this back in January when we purchased our 2010 Level V with ATP: Got the seven year/100,000 mile $0 deductible Platinum Extended Warranty when I purchased our 2010 Prius last week for $925.00 from the dealer (Planet Toyota, Matteson, IL). When he offered me that price, I knew it was better than I could get here going through Troy. It was a great price and I think the dealer gave us the warranty at near cost.
Sent you a PM on the Extended Warranty. I think I got a great deal on this but I'm not sure that the dealership offers this price customarily; I was bargaining pretty hard after I told them the basic deal on the new car wasn't that great.
I read your post and tried to deal with my dealership but they weren't willing to deal on the price (I guess the warranty/maintenance package is where they make good profits). Anyway, I'm happy with Troy's price =) Joono
If you can PM the name of the guy too that would be great. So Troy is selling the Toyota Extended Care right? Not from a third party warranty company?
hi Joono, did you purchase it from Troy? how about the application form? just want make sure i am purchasing the Toyota Extended Care. Thanks!
I called that dealer and left them a VM and told them what I want and ask them to return my call. But so far no one call me back yet. Will update you all as soon as I hear back from them.
I purchased the 8 year/100,000 mile from Troy. It is the Toyota Platinum Warranty as sold on the Toyota site, sold through a Toyota dealer. Mine was a a little over $1200 since I don't drive as many miles--extended it to 8 years. My dealer didn't mention the Toyota warranty at all--was selling something else, with a deductible, for about $1900. I'm happy with how this was handled and would recommend going this route.
Toyota is the most reliable car you can buy. They do not need extended warranties. I put 305,000 miles on my 2000 4Runner. Over the life of the vehicle I had less than $1,000 in repairs. None of them were before 180,000 miles. My 2010 Prius now has 20,000 miles. Zero repairs. I sure the next 150,000 miles will be the same.
Once you fill out the web-application from from Troy's web site, it's all email exchange from there. He asked me to fax/email/mail the purchase paperwork that shows the car's VIN and mileage to verify my car's information. After that, I gave him my Credit Card number over the phone and am currently waiting receive the paperwork.
