I'm searching for a prius and I found one. however, I noticed that the wheels were different. I checked carfax and toyota owner site for the vehicle and saw that there were no accidents reported. Reported being the key word. Anyhow, upon closer inspection, I noticed that the wheels were different. Can someone help me understand what that's all about? Also, I noticed on the toyota maintenance record that they had a repair I'm not familiar with: REPLACED LOWER ENGINE COVER Can you tell me what that repair is? I'm just trying to do my HW before making such a big purchase. Thanks
The one on the right is still wearing those ugly plastic trim rings. The one on the left isn't. Same wheels.
any idea why / how you could mess up a lower engine cover so badly it needs replacing? I'm guessing it's that plastic thing under the vehicle. I can see some scrapping, but to seriously mess it up would take skill.
I suppose the easiest way is to remove it to do some maintenance, then screw up the clips that hold it when reinstalling it so it drops down at 60 mph.
Or even parking in front of a curb that's a bit too high. Looking at mine after a few such scrapes it's pretty scratched up. Look around for evidence of other front end damage tho, just to be sure it wasn't so harmless. - D
