I'm with Ophbalance. I plan to drive the Prius until it becomes economically unreasonable to maintain the car. After that, I plan to donate the car to make use of the tax write-off.

Opt me out too. The only winners will be the lawyers. If anything comes out of it, 99.99999% of the class members will get squat like a token amount of money or some coupons. Been there w/a bunch of stupid class action lawsuit settlements.

Don't think you'll be counting any monies but who loses on the back end of this deal? Even if Toyota were found responsible and had to pay out on whatever outrageous claims it is facing, who pays in the long run? Its' customers of course. (The only ones who have solid claims are those who have been directly affected by the current unintended acceleration isssue(s).
Attitudes like these make me ashamed of my own country. I'm a full-blooded American and have lived overseas, but I tell ya, the rest of the world has pretty much got it right about us at times! Horrible ambassadors we are...

Not me. That is dirty money in my opinion. Another sign of the US "something for nothing - hand out" mentality. Who do you think is going to get the majority of this dirty money and who will pay for this in the long run?

My car has not lost any value until I get ready to sell it. By the time I plan to sell this car, all of this will be old news, Toyota will have resolved these issues, and my car will have retained its value.

IF I had been damaged and IF there were evidence of negligence on Toyota's part, then I would certainly consider suing to recover for my damages, if Toyota did not want to settle without litigation.

But none of those things has happened, in my opinion.

Wow! This is such a great idea! First I'll sue Toyota. Then I'm going to sue the stock market for my stocks that have not recuperated, and then I'll sue my parents because I didn't become ruler of the free world!

Stop embarrassing my country you whiny, greedy American troglodytes.

This is why I sometimes think we should re-adopt a law from early colonial times when being a lawyer was a capital crime. As was said by The Bard: "First, kill all the lawyers!" ;)

As I student of the Bard, I am sure you recall that it was the criminals in the play that said "First, kill all the lawyers!"

Many of the Founding Fathers were lawyers. What an odd statement, and I've never heard of such a law..

The only thing I'm really concerned about is my insurance costs, which seem high anyway & all this hype won't help.

I keep my vehicles until there is hardly any resale value anyway. Good maintenance pays off.

I have noticed people are more reluctant to crowd & tailgate me now. I like it.

i bought my prius last week. when i set up the insurance i asked them if they intended on raising rates on the prius (state farm) and they told me no. although this is a hyped up big safety deal, it is not the first in automotive history, and it won't be the last.

I didn't buy my Prius because of the resale value. I bought it because when I first test drove it, I thought it was cool high tech, neat ride. And still do. I'm keeping mine
