I am kind of detail oriented and presently have 2 antennas on my '05 roof, the factory radio antenna and the square XM antenna. I would like to be able to put one antenna in the spot for the factory antenna that does it all. I have seen those fin-like antennas on newer BMW, Audi, Acura etc., and wonder if those are antennas which receive all signals. I would buy one, paint it to match my car, remove the factory antenna and install the new antenna in that location so it would look absolutely factory and clean. Any stereo/audiophile people here that might know about this possibility? Thanks in advance.
I am shocked that with all the brain-power on this forum that someone does not know the answer to this question.....come on, can someone help me out here? Thank you
I have seen what you are referring to on other cars, just not anything for the prius yet. Sorry that I cannot help you. RJG
Hmm, probably not what you want, but there have been reports (from Bill, if I am not mistaken) that some are installing sat antennas in the dash (by the GPS receiver) for a transparent install.
Still not what you are looking for, but as an alternative you could buy one color matched to your car. Haven't tried it yet, so can't comment on quality, etc. You'll still have two antenna's but it won't stand out as much. Here's a link to one source http://www.myradiostore.us/antennas-cables...xm-antenna.html Cheers, Jeff
I'm one of those that put the small sirius antenna on the dash, as I didn't like the looks of the external antenna. Works fairly well, although it seems to be heat sensitive (when it's about about 100 outside, the antenna seems to stop working). It's about 2 inches in from the side in front of the passenger, about an inch from the bottom of the glass. I've never seen a mixed use (Sat/FM/AM) antenna before, so I can't help you there.
