Wow! Toyota just sent me a new Warranty & Maint guide and stated that we can now change our synth oil every 10K
This letter has been the subject of so much debate and speculation, yet I haven't seen where anyone has scanned and posted it, just to but this to bed!
I'm not sure how to post the letter, but I got a letter and new warranty book Friday about the oil change interval to 10000 miles.
I got mine on Friday. I did a lot of searching, and discovered that on the Care and Maintenance thread, they've been discussing this for months. There's a scan of a letter just like ours except it mentions all the affected models. Our letter makes us think we're the first but it looks like there's a whole group. I think the big news besides the 10K interval is that Toyota now recommends synthetic oil for the engine. I've always wondered, if it was so good, why the manufacturers don't switch or recommend it. So here we are. (I'm assuming it didn't come with the car, but I have to hunt down my paperwork to find out. I could just be behind the times.) Still waiting for a recall letter, though! Maybe they hope I'll stop by to have the oil changed and then they'll just happen to apply the update
Haven't gotten anything here yet. Then again I am in the land of SE Toyota so they are just as likely to change it to 2,500 miles as they are to go to 10,000.
THANK YOU for the letter-copy Just traded to 2010 on Friday Will ASK the dealer tomorrow when I get another item corrected Regards, Jan in Michigan
