I think i'll be picking up a new Prius within couple of weeks, most likely pkg II to save some $$$. I"m in Southern Cali. If you're around the area, what did you pay or lease for yours and what trim? The dealer quoted me 24,700 OTD or $257/month w/2k D/O on a 15k/yr for the P II about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was too much.
So I'm looking for help here. thank you much!!!

Last week I bought a 2010 V with navigation, floor mats, and Blizzard White paint for $29,488 (prior to fees, taxes, extended warranty) in the Central Valley. Sticker price was $31,389.

You might consider trying to buy it in a city with lower sale taxes than yours (if you're in L.A.). Might save a few hundred $$ right there.

In CA, sales tax is based on the address the car is registered to, not where you buy it.

It's also due to all the bad press Toyota has been getting. I shopped for my car at the same dealers two months before, and it was pretty much pay the sticker price or you didn't get one. Fortunately I waited, and now it's pay the inventory price.

My deal was a based on another "ad car" on the lot that I didn't want.

Specs on the "ad car". Red Prius II, bisque(tan) interior without any options whatsoever, $23,550 MSRP, $22,900 selling price. The lease equivalent on that car was $243/month + taxes, 36 months, 36K miles, $1,900 drive off.

I didn't want red and the lowest comparable Blizzard Pearl Prius II with a dark gray interior had several options on it. The Blizzard Pearl "Premium" Paint added $220, Floor/Cargo Mats $200, Wheel Locks $67 drove the MSRP up to $24,037. Plus it had dealer installed side moldings for $300 that was thrown at no extra charge.

I told the dealer to give me the ad car deal on the Blizzard P-II or I'll be walking away. Needless to say they gave it to me. So I ended up getting essentially a $24,337 car in the color (outside & inside) I wanted for $22,900.

BTW this was at Toyota Pasadena 2 weeks ago.

Using the email bidding technique described in the car report I bought from CarBuyingTips.com, I got the price on a $23,400 MSRP Red Prius III in Oxnard down to $21,541. With $750 dest charge, sales tax and license, it came to $24,526 out the door. The Prius III comes stock now with JBL 8-speaker sound, Bluetooth and XM pre-installed. This vehicle also had the "Preferred Premium Accessory Package" (mats/cargonet/firstaid), which is a $280 option (not worth it, but I couldn't get them to remove it).

    Here's the sticker summary:

    Vehicle Base Model ..........................:$ 23400.00
    Model Description: 4-DR GAS/ELEC Category ..........: G
    Year ............: 2010
    Interior Color ..: FB40 FB40 OAK
Exterior Color ..: 03R3 BRED RED
    Audio Package: .............................
JBL AM/FM/MP3 6-disc CD Changer with Eight .
    Speakers, Integrated Satellite Radio .......
    (Requires Subscription), Hands-free Phone ..
    Capability Via Bluetooth Wireless Technology.
Preferred Premium Accessory Package ........ 280.00
Carpeted floor and trunk mats, cargo net, and first aid kit

this sounds like the best deal I've heard thus far. you mind telling me when you got the deal and who you dealt with? Oxnard is only about an hour or so from me. I wouldn't mind driving there to save some $$$!

    thanks!!!

I went for the lease because I rather deal with the residual option at the end instead of either a huge down payment or huge monthly payment when financing.

My payoff amount is $22692 so with the $1,900 drive off and first month's payment of $267.69 the OTD price looks like $24,859. So it's pretty much the same as buying the car for $22,900 + tax (9.75% in Los Angeles County) and license.

New model II (Barcelona Red) deal closed Friday. MSRP $23,419 with mats ($200) and bumper applique ($69). Agreed on $22,400 then deduct $1000 in rebates for total of $21,400 plus TTLF. Don't think I did too bad.

The only way you'll get a low price is buy shopping around. No dealer will just give you the rock bottom price, and if you try negotiating in isolation, the dealer has the advantage: you're on his turf and he knows all the numbers.

The ONLY way to shop, in my opinion, is to use the email bidding process described at carbuyingtips.com. I bought the Prius car report, and then followed their email bidding procedure to a T. It took me a single day to get this deal, and I never left my desk!

I paid 28495 OTD for a 2010 Prius III with navi, and the extended warranty which i think i would cancel in a month and get full money back 1,495, so i paid about 27,000 OTD for a white prius III. I think i got ripped off

Check out Dianne Whitmire's lease rates/quotes she just listed up. Pretty good with little down - http://priuschat.com/forums/dealers-pricing/77132-diannes-socal-march-2-april-5-leases.html

IMO, paying $2000 down is a lot on a lease, as that's $2000 that you'll never see back (unless you buy the car at the end of your lease, then consider it a down payment).
