Trade in my '07 for the '10? Package IV or V?

I was in this same boat, deciding on either the IV or V. The main things I wanted were the leater interior and navigation. I didn't want the solar panel roof on the IV, and I didn't want the ATP on the V. So the price difference between the IV and V with just nav was only a $1500 difference. If you are considering the solar panel roof on the IV and no ATP on the V, then the price will actually be about the same. With ATP, add another $4000 to the price on the V. Just some things to consider when looking at the pricing.

As for the differences, the main differences on the V are the LED headlights, factory fog lights with switch on the stalk, headlight washers, 17" wheels, slightly better steering ratio and suspension (from what I've read on different sites & reviews).... I think that's about it on the US-spec cars. The solar panel roof, from what I've been reading (no 1st hand experience with it), it doesn't cool down the inside at all but just vents the hot air out, in case you thought it would also provide some cooling.

For me, it was worth spending the extra $1500 for those extra things, when I could've easily spent that or more on similar aftermarket parts.

 

I had to decide between a IV and V too. I don't miss the sunroof yet (though I haven't been through a summer). Aside from wanting the better handling and larger wheels, I was concerned about the durability of the glass roof. I'm not sure how tough the glass is over the solar panels if something fell on the car. Also, I've seen stories about rocks shattering the front deflector panel, which is glass, on Scion TCs. The Prius uses the same design. In the end, the V (with awsome radar cruise control) was the choice for me.

 

You're going to get a fairly strong response from V owners, who are VERY passionate about their cars.

Depending on where you live, it may be difficult to recoup any investment in the IV's Solar Sunroof, due to the fact that it may be usable only a few months a year, and even at that, as stated above, it simply circulates the ambient air throughout the car. So, if it's a hundred degrees outside, it can get NO cooler than one hundred inside, unless you incorporate the use of its Remote Air Conditioning button on the Fob. However, the Fob's effective range is approximately 75 feet, which means you have to be relatively close for it to be usable.

On the other hand, ALL of the features listed above for the V, are usable 12 months out of the year, making better use of your investment.

Don't know if you're interested in the AT package, but it does have a significant WOW factor, If you do much traveling, the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control alone is worth the price of the entire package! PLUS, the Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning are both VERY cool, and despite some negative comments, many here love the Intelligent Parking Assist, and find it quite an asset.

Traded my '09 PKG 5 in December for a '10 PKG V
Don't know anything about the PKG IV,But I know what I like about my V

17" alloy wheels,LED headlights,leather,heated seats, NAV,
JBL sound system,No sunroof!!

Go drive them both if you can, my dealer had 42- 2010's when I got mine!
I think you will be more than happy with the V I know I am!!

We had the same decision to make. We decided we have not used the sun roof on our regular cars and did not know how much good we would get from the solar roof. We choose the V after seeing both and driving both a IV and a V. So far we love the V.

 

I would save the money and upgrade when you have cash. I am not a fan staying in debt to own something I can afford in the future.

If you are happy your current ride why pay the bank to finance a new car?.

 

Before I purchased IV, I thought the same question. V got fog, LED headlight, 17", ATP ($4K)... and IV has no fog, 17" but got a SR ($1,5K). At the end, I bought a IV with SR and added a fog and aftermarket HID already, maybe a set of 17" in summer. I think it really depending on what you want - ATP and other toys in V or IV with SR.

 

I sold my Touring Pkg 6 2007 to a friend who was in need of a good reliable car and got myself a 2010 Pkg IV. I chose the IV because it was the closest trim level to the 2007 which in all honesty I absolutely loved. Toyota made a lot of changes to features that were standard on lower level packages in the 2007. I know I would have missed the back up camera and the smart key that opens all the doors (when approaching the passenger side) for example if I had gone with Pkg II or III. I chose IV because I actually like having a sun roof (I got my car in January so needless to say I haven't gotten to experience the solar pkg or remote air conditioning features), I don't really care about wheel size or hub caps which were features on the V. I almost never parallel park and I might have liked the cruise assist on the V, but I thought I could live without it. I like leather too which is only available on the IV or V.
I did care about having navigation and I really think there are some improvements over the 2007 on the voice recognition. I really miss the sunglass holder (taken away by the solar roof controls and the Safety Connect (Toyota's version of OnStar)- so actually a big negative to me and I really miss the controls for temperature and radio modes that were on my 2007 steering wheel. Probably would have liked having the new EV, ECO Mode, and POWER buttons on the steering wheel - they are on the other side of the joy stick shifter, so I have to tell my passenger to push them for me when I want to change (I stay in ECO mode).
Also, if you are used to all the storage bins in the 2007, forget about them, they aren't there on the 2010. But my mileage is a lot better on the 2010. I haven't had any braking problems - maybe because I tend to coast to a stop.
So basically, you have to decide which features are important to you.
