Greetings, While driving at night, people from the opposit direction keep flashing their beam at me. I don't have my beam on. Sometime I beam back at them, probably not a good idea. So is my Prius headlight aim too high? This my second time driving at night. --Hilore Palm Springs, CA
I have the same problem, but I have heard that they are supposed to have some type of sensor that ensures they are in the correct position.
This has happened to me as well. I think it is because the HID headlights are brighter than standard halogen lights, or at least they seem to be because of the different color of light. If you have HID headlamps that could be the reason for getting flashed. One thing to do is make sure the lenses are clean. Any dust or dirt on them will make the lights look brighter than they really are and possibly blind on coming drivers. Also the HID's are auto leveling so if you have them they should not be aimed too high. Justin
The prius is special. It uses only 1 HID bulb for both high and low beams. There is a little arm that moves the bulb, letting it get to more of the reflector ( for high beam ) or limits it to less of the reflector ( for low ). The problem is, you still get ambient light on the high reflector. You end up with two, very bright low beams. All HID's are required to be auto leveled. There is a lever in the back of the car that measures the distance between the frame and the rear axle. heavier load, they point down. carrying a car full of helium... they go higher. i don't recommend carrying a car full of helium. if so, don't drive. lol there has been a post on this before. i've seen the system, even toyed with it.
