I have numerous rattles in the dash of my Gen II (08) and wondered if the Gen III is better or worse?!?!?!?!? I've heard a little about consoles rattling....but I wanted some additional feedback. Thanks.
Well I'm sure some don't have rattles in their gen3 but I know that I do in mine. Granted not all the time but often enough. The center console rattles all the time despite the dealers best efforts. It stops if I rest my arm on it though.
I picked mine up yesterday and it came with a free rattle on the right hand of the dash corner which stops when its pressed down. I may spend a couple of days going through the vehicle tightening screws and playing with felt.
This topic has been covered in numerous threads, including at least one poll that I recall. Do we really need another one (to remind me about this issue)?
sorry man, I didn't see a poll specifically on this issue...just a couple of threads ranting about a dash rattle.
Yep, had them rattles on front dash. However just got a bluetooth phone kit installed which mutes the radio. Rattles are now gone! I guess when he was working around center console area to apply a mute lead for radio something was changed. Rattle is now gone. Also, check under the passenger seat. The leads and their covers tend to rattle on rough roads at highway speed which I cured with insulating tape by taping them together. Hope some of this helps as I was very disappointed with the rattles which seem to be cured now.
Yes it does help, I'll try the fix you mentioned for the under seat cables tomorrow, thanks. I appreciate the rattle threads because they have helped me to find some of my rattles. I'm still working on them and I need helpful suggestions.
My Gen III rattles where the center console meets the arm rest in cold weather. Goes away when temp in car warms the plastic (expands). You can put your hand between the armrest and console where they touch and feel them move differently as the car moves. Some rubber grommets would have taken care of this. Guess that would have cost an extra $.10.
Mine is exactly the same...center console rattles in cold weather..which is of course in frequent here in Orlando...but this year was unusually cold. Otherwide no other rattles or creaks to speak of.
I chose "solid as a tank" but in truth there is some times a small rattle some where in the right side of the dash but only when it is very cold. It goes away when the cabin warms up. I found using the defogger (not the defroster) with the fan on helps it to go away the fastest.
This is not the solidest car I've ever had (ain't an '85 Volvo), but it's not a rattletrap either. One reason folks might notice rattles at low speeds is that you often do not have the ICE going, which in most cars I've had drowned out some rattles.

At times the rattleling drives me crazy but sometimes it is real quiet. I am getting that fixed this week or next. Going to put more padding on the dash and in the centre console.
The only rattleling I ever hear is when my wife puts her sunglasses down in the passenger door pocket while I'm driving. Otherwise, I don't hear a thing.
Had to vote for no rattles, as the 2nd attempt at fixing the rattles under warranty seems to be working. I had the center console rattle as well as constant squeaking from the back seat.
I have an intermittent rattle coming from somewhere to the right of the gearshift (maybe the same place you guys are talking about). I had a rental '10 before mine came in, had a rattle in the same place. I think it's particularly annoying because the car is so quiet otherwise.
From the dash? no. But it has the same rattle as our 05 somewhere in the back. I assume it's the tonneau cover.
