Hi everyone, Well I owned a 2006 Civic Hybrid until a pickup truck hit me in the rear and pushed me into the Honda Accord in front of me. Now I am an owner of a Red 2010 Prius. First drive to work today 42 miles at 51.3 mpg per trip on wet roads with a light rain. Can't wait to see what I can get out of this car once I get used to it. PCK
Hmm....I am also the owner of a new Red 2010 Prius (as of last August) when a large pickup truck smashed my Honda CRV into the car in front of me.....must be a conspiracy. Bruce
If it is a conspiracy, except for the car payments its working out in my favor. Commute home from work today 60.6 mpg, would have posted pic, but not enough posts yet.
Sorry my reply probably belongs on the rants thread, LOL. Just chalk it up to my sense of humor, if I can find it that is.....:welcome:. Seriously I looked at Honda Civic Hybrid a few years ago and it seemed nice. It will be interesting to hear how the 2 cars compare.
What MPG were you getting with your Civic Hybrid? My sister-in-law had a 08 HCH and she got rid of it in 9 months. It was due to snow performance, getting 38 MPG and got rear-ended twice.
I owned the car for 4 years and I would say I averaged 48-50 mpg over the last 3 years. The first year I owned the car I did the whole hyper mile thing and I had a 1 year avg. 60.7 mpg. I even managed to pull out a single 70 mpg. tank. That set me up well for the next 3 years of a more normal driving style. Also South Florida is Hybrid heaven, always warm and no terrain issues.
Fold Down Seats...... Plus Pruis hybrid technology is appealing. When I was shopping 4 years ago I wanted a Prius but I had no patience for there waiting lists so I went with the Civic.
I was also one that traded in an HCH (07) when I got my G3 over the summer. My main reason was the overall technology seemed better. Plus, the Prius is a "hybrid" not a converted traditional car. MPG are better in the Prius. Power is better in the Prius. The HCH seemed to provide a smoother ride and cornered a bit better, though. I would say that I've got an overall, 15% increase in MPG this winter in the Prius compared to the HCH last winter. That is pretty amazing, considering all the snow and nasty weather that we've had out this way this year compared to almost none last year. I avg in the upper 30s last winter, and I'm in the mid 40s this winter. That speaks for itself about the Prius. Neither car really handled well in snow with the stock tires, but the Blizzaks have made "night and day" difference, to use a cliche. I wish the Prius had the shocks and ability to absorb the bumps like the HCH did, though.
Well I must say most of our 60mpg owners are in the southern States (there are exceptions of course, two of them being Evan and Tony who are in the northern states). If you can get that mpg in an HCH-II, we're looking forward to see what you can achieve with the 3G Prius!
How do you like the Honda CRV? I am having second thoughts because i just got a Prius 10, and i like the CRV 10 . Is it fun to drive and does it have the same feel as the prius in the highway?
I am loving this car. Had my first fill up and calculated it out to be 54.8 mpg. Trip showed 54.9 mpg, but I never reset when I picked up car so it should actually be a lower number. I was expecting the trip to be higher as most posters indicate a 5% to 8% difference in favor of the trip. I guess I need a few more tanks to see if this happens to me. My commute is about 42 miles one way 5% suburban, 5% city and 80% highway. The highway portion varies from 25% crawling and stop and go to about 50% depending on commute times.
